Well, made a little dream of mine come true this last week.

I've always been a long time fan of the 80's Canadian band The Arrows. I got in touch via Facebook with Dean McTaggart, the leader of the band and inquired about if he had any of the Arrows' videos on tape.

Despite hearing from some random guy from Saskatoon asking him completely out of the blue asking to borrow probably the only videotape left in existence that contained all three music videos from the Arrows, he loaned them to me.

I passed the tape off to Craig Jarvis at Vital Transfers - Audio and Video Digitization. VHS to DVD - a rare piece of Canadian music history cannot be trusted to a pawnshop VCR but it can be trusted with Jarv.

Several days later, I presented the finished upscales to Dean and to the world.

Hope you enjoy them too!

The Canadian band The Arrows only made three music videos, and all three were made for their second album, "The Lines Are Open". Lead singer and one of the m...

A little something put together to mark the Mynarski Memorial Lancaster's visit to Saskatoon on Thursday.

Produced in cooperation with the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum

On July 18, 2024, one of the only two flying Avro Lancasters, the "Mynarksi Memorial Lancaster", visited the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum in Saskatoon.

Quite excited to be granted special access in cooperation with the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum to document the Saskatoon arrival of one of only two remaining airworthy Avro Lancaster WW2 bombers in the world today.

The plan is to compile a featurette on the plane known as the “Mynarski Memorial Lancaster”. It is painted in the colours of his aircraft KB726 – VR-A, which flew with RCAF No. 419 "Moose" Squadron.

Andrew Mynarski was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross, the Commonwealth’s highest award for gallantry, on June 13, 1944, when his Lancaster was shot down in flames, by a German night fighter. As the bomber fell, he attempted to free the tail gunner trapped in the rear turret of the blazing and out of control aircraft. The tail gunner miraculously survived the crash and lived to tell the story, but sadly Andrew Mynarski died from his severe burns.

So, I'm about to embark on another video in my "Abandoned Saskatchewan" series and I'd like to get your feedback on what topic I should do next. These videos center mostly on drone and aerial footage with a little bit of history about the location.

Here's a sample: https://youtu.be/5erCb6JepjM?si=LmhIE4Bv0sa3q_Fp

So far, I've covered:

Borden Bridge
Outlook CPR Bridge / Skytrail
The story of the old CPR Rail Spur from Asquith to Baljennie
The old highway overpass south of PA
The old railway overpass near Hafford
The old St. Louis Grand Trunk Bridge
The McCloy Creek Trestle near Meskanaw
Lepine, Sask
Bounty, Sask

What do you think I should do next?

In the spring of 1929, construction workers built the large east and west embankments using horse-drawn dump wagons, slips and fresno scrapers. They had to sp...
