Man cannot live on Petty alone. A little Sunday night Bob. A stunning song on a superb album. ❤️ Annie Lennox’s version is sublime, but the original is so raw and pure.
#WaitingInVain
I just wanted to shout out and say a HUGE thank you to Dallas Heliker, for the amazing gift he sent me! I'm a very lucky boy!!!
Remember that even when it seems like the world is going to hell, if we all treat each other with a little love and a little kindness, we can rise above the noise. Think about a random act of kindness during your day today. Pay for someone's coffee at the drivethru. Buy a book and drop it off at a school library. Donate some time to a local charity.
Anything we can do to bring each other closer together really does make a difference. Dallas has inspired me to be more proactive in paying my kindness forward! I hope he inspires you too!

I Just Wanna Dance (with Amelia McLean)
Can we move this table, can we move this wall? This room feels a bit too small!
During my chat with Amelia McLean, we talked about her "levity song", titled "I Just Wanna Dance". While it's one of the lighter moments on the album, Amelia still manages to sneak a fairly profound underlying idea into this one, which is the true mark of a great songwriter. There's also a wicked cool key change in this song that I forgot to mention to her!
I hope you've enjoyed these little teaser clips. I haven't typically done them in the past but I think they'll become a feature for future conversations as it's fun to go back and pick out two or three moments from these chats to give you a sense of it 😊 Now I just have the agnozing wait to share the album with you all!
Introducing Amelia McLean
I’m expanding the non-Petty aspect of the podcast by having conversations with artists who might not be strongly or directly influenced by Tom’s music but share some characteristic or characteristics with his writing or approach to the art of songwriting.
This week’s guest, Amelia McLean, is a supremely-talented young songwriter who is preparing to release her phenomenal debut album, probably later this year. I'm happy to report that I've fallen head over heels in love with this record.
Our conversation will be available in full this Friday.
