When a friend is going through a storm, don’t become the broadcaster. Grab an umbrella and shield them. 🙌💥

Another year closes, and while it wasn’t draped in the shimmering perfection I might have once envisioned, it stands as a testament to something far more profound: another year clean. This isn’t a year marked by flawless victories or effortless triumphs, but a year etched with the quiet strength of resilience, a year I remained steadfast on my path. And in that steadfastness, I’ve achieved so much.

The past twelve months haven’t been without their struggles. There were moments of profound difficulty, times when the pull of old habits felt almost unbearable. But I made it through. This isn’t a solitary victory; it’s a shared one, built on the unwavering support of my recovery community. My recovery friends, the Narcotics Anonymous program, my sponsor, and his family—these are the pillars that have held me steady. I know, with absolute certainty, that I couldn’t have navigated this year without them.

This journey has been a rigorous teacher, delivering hard-won lessons that have reshaped my perspective. One of the most significant takeaways has been the realization of the unrealistic expectations I placed on others. This tendency, coupled with the inevitable disappointment I felt when those expectations weren’t met, led to a cycle of self-inflicted letdowns. This is a pattern I’m committed to breaking in 2025. I understand now that true growth comes from focusing on my own actions and reactions, rather than projecting my hopes and desires onto others.

Amidst the challenges, this year has also brought the gift of connection. Through online platforms like Facebook, I’ve met a wealth of incredible people, forging genuine friendships within the recovery community. To all of you, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. You’ve played an integral role in my recovery journey, often without even realizing it. A simple post, a shared experience, a word of encouragement—these seemingly small acts have provided solace and strength during difficult times. Your presence, both online and in person, has been a constant source of support.

As we stand on the threshold of a new year, I want to offer a message of hope. No matter what you’re facing, no matter how insurmountable the obstacles may seem, you can get through it. Trust the process. Believe in your own strength and resilience. Remember that you are loved, and you matter. This year has proven to me that even in the face of adversity, growth and healing are possible. And for that, I am eternally grateful.

⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR TONIGHT ⚠️

Overdose doesn’t just happen to those struggling with addiction—it can happen to recreational users too. Overdose does not discriminate!

If you’re planning to go out tonight and might indulge in a few bumps or party favors:
• Do NOT use alone.
• Have Narcan/Naloxone on hand.
• Do NOT hesitate to call 911 in an emergency.

Your life is worth it. Stay safe, look out for each other, and party responsibly.

If you shame someone over a relapse, this isn’t the page for you. People often struggle to ask for help because they’re afraid of being judged or seen as failures, and sadly, that fear can be life-threatening. Addiction is different for everyone, and relapse is a reality for many. When it happens, we should create a supportive environment where people feel safe to be honest and ask for the help they need.

It’s heartbreaking to see judgment within a community that’s supposed to offer understanding and support. Recovery is about lifting each other up, not tearing each other down. This page is a space for positivity, growth, and real encouragement—there’s no room for shame or negativity here.

Let’s work to make recovery spaces safe and compassionate for everyone. We’re all on our own journeys, and kindness goes a long way.
