Here is what the film is all about!
When Emily Rodger entered the cycling community at an older age, she turned heads. It didn’t take long for her to realise that she was a gifted athlete and was, for the first time, finding a passion in sport. She had an exciting new life-path to explore, until everything suddenly changed when she was struck by a car on a training ride. Emily suffered severe facial and head injuries. Her life and career hung in the balance. Through years of surgeries and physio, she rediscovered fly fishing as a way to cope with PTSD and a brain injury that resulted from the accident. But this did not stop Emily from getting back onto her bike. Emily would go on to win world championships twice until a second race-course collision again brought her to think deeply about purpose.
As an elite angler and executive coach, Emily now travels around the world to fly fish and publicly speak, using her own traumatic experiences to help others overcome their own.
WHOA! Another film festival for our film Cadence! The film is about world-champion cyclist Emily Rodger as she survives a critical accident, and uses her fly fishing rod to help overcome her trauma. Join us in Shediac New Brunswick for the Shediac Film Festival, Monday, September 26th to watch our film alongside some other fantastic pics!

We at Hemmings Films are excited that our partners Clem McIntosh & Sandy Hunter , also of Cultivation Pictures, have their film "Sugaring" as an official selection for FIN (Atlantic International Film Festival), screening competitively this Sunday, September 18th at 3:30 at Parklane Cinemas in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Sugaring is an audiovisual meditation on the traditional practice of maple syruping in New Brunswick.
When we started exploring the idea of sharing the inspirational story about our dear friend Emily Rodger’s dramatic ascent to the podium, we had no idea that it would evolve into a short film for film festivals, and now as an hour-long documentary for CBC and Gem! Emily’s life was dramatically changed twice by near-fatal collisions while she was on her bike. The film follows her as she overcomes her injuries, which leads her back to the pastime of her childhood and she discovers her own peace.
Watch the film this Saturday, September 17th at 9pm on CBC television or on CBC Gem.
