Southern Wave is a registered nonprofit organization that practices Okinawan music and dance in Vancouver, BC Canada. We are proud to have members who are motivated to share passion for Okinawan performing arts in this multicultural city. Our mission is to create an active platform where everyone can experience Okinawan culture through music and dance. We want to deliver joyful experiences to our audience.

One of our biggest goals is to contribute to cultural diversity. We will actively participate i"n local multicultural festivals and charities to get to know people from different cultural backgrounds. We want to establish strong connections with other cultural groups from not only Canada but also all over the world. We are passionate about passing down the cultural knowledge of Okinawa to the next generations. We believe that working together can make a difference and help multicultural movement flourish even more.

Our Artist-Non sweet

Non Sweet is an all-girl j-pop music group based in Vancouver that aims to empower, inspire and bring joy to people all over the world, especially girls. While offering an interactive musical experience combining live vocals and dance, the group's mission is to share their love for j-pop music with a broader English-speaking audience. All of the group's original music is written in collaboration with their Japanese sound producer, whereas the members take the creative lead on lyrics, choreography and concept for each release.

Our Artiest-- Otis Niu

He is one of the founder of Deal music, and will be participate as keyboard for this musical event!
Otis was born into a talented music family. At a young age, he learned from the best mentors including professor Wang Man from Tianjin Conservatory of Music, majored in percussion and keyboard He is active in multiple first tier performance shows at both Canada and China. Since establishing Deal Music, he focused his attention on developing others to have a passion in music through a balance of fun and scientific way. Because of his own devotion in the education of music, many talented students had discovered their own potential and became a bright musician themselves.

Our Artist- Ming, D**g

He is one of our amazing percussion player of Deal band. Ming will also performance at 2022 Asian Music Festival this year!

At age of 12, he began to learn opera percussion under the tutelage of Qi Gebin. Graduated from the School of Art of Anhui University, majoring in percussion, and participated in various provincial and municipal opera performances and competitions during school.After graduation, he worked in Hefei Lu Theater, where he worked as a percussionist in the band. During this time,he completed various rehearsals and performances with the troupe, and recorded programs for provincial and municipal TV broadcasts.
Ming was also signed by China Rolling Stone Records LTD artist and was responsible for performances and some recordings, as well as participating in many commercial performances nationwide.
From 2002 to 2018, he first established a leading music studio, and then engaged in music education in China and also Canada respectively.

Our Artist-- Vancouver Guqin Music Society

GuQin literally means "The Ancient Instrument" in Chinese. For thousands of years, Qin is deemed by Confucianists as the leading one of "four arts", and it played a central role in the lifestyle of thinkers, transcendency-pursurers, rulers, gentlemen, squires, or just anyone with good taste. It features subtlety and
refinement - the teaching was always kept secret only between maestros and disciples, and the learning is endless. While the manifestation of the underlying theme is highly flexible and largely depends on the player, for modern people it leads the path towards the mystical facet of ancient Chinese people, who are always reserved in expression. Eventually, time becomes a welcoming host.

Chen (Kris) Liang, who is one of our guitar artist for this event.

He has been learning guitar from young age, and majored in vocal music & guitar in high school. During his learning period, he won many prizes in musical competitions and various other provincial awards. He also joined a band and accumulated a lot of stage performance experiences. He graduated from Tianjin Art Institute, majoring in music education & guitar, and has been engaged in guitar education in well-known institutions in China and over abroad.
