Another day, another beer, another flight ✈️

Many people ask if working while travelling is hard and the answer is no.

Working while travelling allows me to go on longer trips so I feel less panicked to have jam packed days of touring. In fact, I often feel more inspired while travelling so I often am more productive when I am working and more inspired.

This is literally the dream I’ve spent the last 10ish years working toward…. And am grateful everyday I have built a clientele of people whom are so understanding and even encourage me to go ❤️

The biggest challenge is the time difference- I have to stop myself from sending texts to people when they might be sleeping cause it’s 3am back home.

P I V O T

Nothing annoys me more than being told to “pivot.” I’d love to say I’m a “go with the flow” person, but that’s really situational. When I’ve put a specific plan in place aka. the Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo hike, I want to stick to it.

In fact, my entire trip to Portugal was based around doing this hike. Unfortunately, my back had other plans. I had a severe sciatica flare up a week before the trip which makes even walking painful. If you’ve dealt with sciatica pain before you know how debilitating it can be.

But isn’t that how it goes? Life, relationships, business – they don’t always play out the way we want. Sometimes, the master plan goes sideways, and we’ve got to adjust.

One of my favourite things about social media is you can switch things up in a snap, and sometimes, that’s where the magic happens. It’s not always about sticking to the script.

So, while I’m feeling a bit bummed about my trip taking a different turn, I’m trying to see this as a chance to check my ego and learn to pivot.

Life doesn’t always stick to the script but sometimes the magic happens when you learn to roll with the punches. So here I am, learning to PIVOT 🤦🏼‍♀️.

In the meantime, it’s a beautiful place to work 🌸

🗓️31 dayyyyys….

Yeah baby, that’s one month until it’s backpack on and boots on the ground! I’ll be heading to Portugal and who knows where else… ✈️

✨ What does this mean for my clients? ✨

Pretty much nothing. One of the reasons I’ve pursued the line of work I’m in (and trust me, there are many… I pretty much love everything about what I do) is that I can work remotely from virtually anywhere.

That’s right, even though I won’t be here in Canada, I’ll still be checking emails and working daily while I’m away.

I believe I’ve already touched base with all of you, but this is just a gentle reminder.

As for any potential new clients… I will not be taking on new projects until November, but feel free to reach out to me with your ideas.

Did anyone else blink this year and suddenly it’s SUMMER?

As much as I do love summer, it also gets me reviewing my goals for the year and re-evaluating where I’m at. Have I checked off a few? Sure.

Have I gone a little off course this year? Absolutely.

Have you ever heard of the 1 in 60 Rule?

Let me break it down here. If a plane’s heading is 1° off course, it will veer 1 mile off from its destination every 60 miles flown. Easily correctable, but if left unchecked, 1° could become several miles in the wrong direction every hour.

So, small errors can add up, but tiny tweaks can fix them!

Lunch date today with the one and only

Today is National Administrative Professionals Day, and it seems only fitting that I give a shoutout to Jessica. (Psst she is also is a very talented crocheter… go give a follow)

Although it may seem like I’m a one-man show, Jessica has helped me immensely with my business.

As a small business owner, you don’t really get days off. When things happen, like getting sick or moving, work never stops.

Jessica has been my rock and a reliable person to work with. She handles a lot of behind-the-scenes work in my business, from community engagement to dealing with shoeboxes of receipts I hand her.

Recently, I moved, and I think I can speak for the general population when I say you never realize how much stuff you have until you move. It was a way bigger job than I thought it would be, but Jessica ensured that everything was still on track and taken care of.

I appreciate you so much! Thanks for all you do!

These are all examples of social proof.

Social proof is essentially the idea that people are more likely to believe or trust something if they see that others have already done or experienced it. In simpler terms, it's like saying, "If others like it, then it must be good!"

In digital marketing, social proof is crucial because it helps build trust and credibility with potential customers. When people see positive feedback, testimonials, or evidence of others using and enjoying a product or service, they're more inclined to feel confident in making a purchase themselves.

Here are some examples of social proof that you can use to help convert your audience into customers or clients:

It’s no secret that social media platforms have become saturated with content as its the perfect place to share, connect, and build a following…but if you’re making some of these common mistakes, you might be SOL and left behind in the dust.
Here are some pitfalls to steer clear of:
Not Knowing Your Audience: Your followers are your tribe. Understand their interests to craft content that resonates.

✨ Lack of Engagement: Interaction is key. Don’t be like one of those awkward Tinder dates where one person is doing all the talking and the other one is sitting there responding with one-word answers…ugh been there, and let me tell you... PAAAAAINFUL.

✨Platform Overload: Don't dilute your efforts across too many platforms, pick ones that are relevant to your brand and focus your efforts there.

✨ Dull Headlines in the caption: Keep 'em short, snappy, and engaging. Make people want to stop and read. Social media is no place for a snore fest.

✨ Unengaging Content: It's not just about posting—it's about posting stuff people ACTUALLY want to engage with. Spice it up!

My favourite tools to use as a social media manager:

Later: Allows me to schedule posts in advance so I’m not stressing over when to hit "publish." Some of the things I love about Later are the ability to ‘preview’ your Instagram grids, the ability to schedule stories, media organization options AND easy analytics.

Canva: Design made easy! Literally, ANYONE can use Canva, and with the ability to add in brand kits, it makes keeping a consistent brand look easy. Several other handy aspects are that it allows people of all design backgrounds to make beautiful designs from templates to tools such as background remover.

ChatGPT: This tool works like having a brainstorming buddy on demand. When I hit a mental block I love turning to this tool to help generate ideas but if you choose to use this one, please, PLEASE don’t just copy and paste. Adding your own touch keeps your content sounding human and authentic.

Lightroom: This is an Adobe program that is an easy way to edit photos, and maintain a consistent look within the edits. It also is a great way to organize client photos.

Adobe Illustrator: For design needs that are above what Canva can offer, I head over to Illustrator to use more custom design options. This tool has a little bit more of a learning curve than Canva but can come in quite handy.

CapCut: This app is great for editing videos for reels right on your phone. It has everything from templates to video enhancements and editing tools. The free version itself offers more than enough to get started.

✨️Main Character Energy✨️

2024 has me feeling this.

One of my yearly rituals is writing out a goal list for the upcoming year at the end of December.

This year, one of those goals is to complete the 75 Hard...

The first couple of weeks of this challenge felt, well, challenging. I felt I didn't have enough time to get everything required done in a day.

Now that I’m over halfway to crossing this goal off my list, I can truly feel how the habits from this challenge have started to integrate into my everyday life...and one of my favourite benefits? The increased mental clarity I have experienced from the list of 'to do's' on this challenge.

This clarity has not only made me feel more driven and focused on my goals, but it also made me feel clear on HOW to achieve those goals.

So yeah, I'm feeling my main character's energy this year for sure. ✌🏼
