The calendars will be shipped mid-fall with lots of time ahead of Christmas, as we found over the years the late printing and release to be very hard to get everything out in time for the holidays.

Palomino sunset 💜🌅🐴

I recently ordered this print on aluminum and am super excited with how it turned out. I envisioned it on someone’s wall surrounded by plants 🪴 almost as if he’s delicately peeking through.

I believe a photograph is so much more than an image. It holds the energy of the moment, the energy of the horse, and this guy has the most calm, friendly, tranquil energy. I extra love that you can see the entire sunset reflected in his eye.

You know when you enter someones presence that makes you feel warm and safe?

Or when you enter a space where you immediately feel at ease, like you can rest and drop your guard?

Aurora allowed us to capture her beautiful heart and her beautiful healing space, recently. After spending an evening and morning here with Aurora, in the yurt, and on the trails amongst the enchanted old growth forests and mountains that surround it, we never wanted to leave. 🌲🏔♥️

We were honored to be invited to film this short video for the Foothills Bison Restoration Society. We are ever so grateful to Charlie Fox, Dolly Creighton, and the Kainai first nation for giving us a glimpse in to their beautiful culture, sharing their teachings and their precious time with us. And to Wes Olson, for inviting us in to his home, and sharing a lifetime of knowledge with us. Huge gratitude!

During a back country camping trip exploring the land they revere, the guys discovered an ancient bison skull still partially buried in the banks of bob creek. A land where you can feel brother bison' presence amongst the sacred valleys. The conversation then became, why can't we have wild buffalo again roaming their native home, on Alberta's public lands? And so it was, the birth of the Foothills Bison Restoration Society. Now, the FBRS journey is to discover how the reintroduction of bison will affect others, as well as the land, and what the process looks like.

Meg and I are Stoked to be releasing our 2024 Calendars for Pre-sale!🎉 calendars will begin shipping in late November/Early December.

We will be printing locally, with our favorite printer, Kyle, at Ross Street Printing once again.

We chose to create seperate calendars this year, and we're SO happy with how they've turned out!

They're both themed around our beloved Eastern Slopes Of Alberta, the sacred space that has very much become our home away from home these past few years, as we explore and capture all the magic that she holds.

Have you ever sat in the valleys amongst the east slopes of alberta, or anywhere in alberta for that matter, and wondered what it would be like, hundreds of years ago, when massive herds of buffalo roamed free on their ancestral land?

We are excited to share this short film that we were so honored to produce, in partnership with the Foothills Bison Restoration Society.

The FBRS is an organization, comprised of lifelong lovers and protectors of the Eastern Slopes of Alberta. Their goal is to reintroduce bison to Alberta's public land along the east slopes, in the hopes of restoring the ecosystem and taking steps towards reconciliation with first nations people.

Meg and I started excitedly anticipating kit season about an hour after the little fox family left their den last spring. Watching these guys play and romp around their den is the simplest of joys. I'll try and get more video of them next time, it's too good not to share.🦊♥️

Fox kits

Meg and I stumbled across another adorable image of these two cuties from last spring as we were looking for the date that our peregrine falcons landed last season. Suffice to say, I got distracted by these two and never figured out the date anyways!

As goes for any time of year, but especially now when there's babies being born, if you happen upon wildlife around Central alberta, reach out and let us know! We LOVE discovering new areas and meeting new wild friends, and, we can reach them without disturbing them in their space. If we end up getting a nice photo, we'll give you a print in return!

Mountain Bluebird

This beautiful little guy was the icing on the cake for us yesterday. After a day of morning sunshine sitting, birch tapping, and forest picnicking, we stopped on our way home to check if our pair of bluebirds had yet arrived. And to our delight, they were home to their spring and summer grounds, cheeping joyfully away to each other as they fluttered from fence post to tree branch and back again. It always amazes me how rich with life the parkland becomes every spring, after being buried under snow for so many months! I'm ever so grateful for this beautiful land and these beautiful beings♥️🐦🌿🙏

King of The Sky🦅

I was shooting way too slow for an eagle in flight, but, just happened to catch this guy's head in focus for a frame. It turned out pretty cool being able to see the focus on his face as he's cruising the freshly flooded wetlands, hunting for newly arrived water birds, yesterday. I'm thinking he's a resident, non migratory eagle. We have a few pairs of them on the east side of red deer.
Yesterday morning I was out sitting in the fog, listening to the joyous spring chorus of birds, when a grackle landed in front of me. If you've never heard their song, I implore you, look them up online, or better yet, search one out in person and listen to its song. They can impersonate almost any sound, it's honestly the most incredible thing to witness. It started with a few classic songbirds, then to eagle, he threw in a coyote howl for good measure, then he began impersonating the bluejays who were singing across the yard. I must now try to get some video of them, which will be a challenge, because they don't sit still for long.

Boss Wapiti

Out of the herd of around 70 elk, this guy was the boss. I heard him well before I saw him, his high pitched bugle echoing through the valley. It's kind of a funny story though, we saw some fresh elk sign while on a hike near banff the day prior, so I decided to do a headlamp hike the next morning and see if I could locate the herd, a real hike in the dark mountains type of adventure, my favorite. I could hear them bugling almost immediately and followed the sounds through the forest and down to the river where I could see the herd, in what I thought was a meadow, across the river. I sat and watched them from a distance, in awe, as this big bull charged and chased all the other bulls away, raked the earth with his antlers, then sprayed himself, an amazing display. He would then bugle, and wait for the cows to return the call, immediately giving chase. I felt like I was on a serious wilderness adventure, it even began to snow, adding to the feel of it all.. I never got a picture, due to the low light conditions and the distance, so I decided to go back and map out where they were located so I could get closer..after looking at the map, i laughed to myself, the wild "meadow" i saw from across the river was . And yes, the elk were there, roaming about, living the lap of luxury eating away at the lush green grasses on the fringes of the fairways..It doesn't make it any less special, they're still gorgeous majestic animals and it was an incredible experience observing them.

Bernie the boreal had been preparing for her big cameo for ages. On this day, she stepped in to the spotlight and went for it. What a star.⭐️⭐️📸

This little boreal chickadee, with a great big personality has become one of our all time most popular images for print, from a huge four foot custom barnwood print thats hanging in our gallery in the horizon medical office, to paper prints of all sizes, and now, she's coming to life on aluminum.
