🍃Focus on facts, not feelings. Imposter Syndrome can also hit the hardest after a promotion or a job change. If, for example, you were just given a promotion then focus on your skills and accomplishments which propelled you into landing the new position.
🍃Acknowledge your feelings of doubt, and then let them go. Allow yourself to feel what you’re feeling, write it all down and get it out. Then put it away. Let it go.
🍃Talk to someone you trust, and whose opinion you respect. You might be surprised to have them relate having had similar feelings at some point in their life.
🍃Reframe your thoughts. When you find yourself berating yourself about a project or a task that didn’t go the way you hoped, take stock of what disappointed you and move on. Ask for feedback from a trusted colleague or mentor to get a sense of whether your assessment is fair and balanced.
🍃Celebrate your accomplishments. Often Imposter Syndrome can rob us of the joy of a job well done, or completing a particularly tough task. Take some time to enjoy your victories.
🍃Most importantly, be kind to yourself. Know you aren’t the only one feeling this way - even when it’s unimaginable that anyone else could understand.
🍃And finally, sometimes you just have to “fake it ‘til you make it.” You may need to put on a brave face some days and just get through it. Give yourself some grace on those days and count those too as one of your victories.
