This summer we added a floating stump and boom stick (a large log) to the protective boom at the front of our water lease. A wide boom reduces boat wakes and wind waves before they reach our float cabin.

Red currants are my only edible crop since switching to flowers. This year's crop gave me enough to make five half pints of jelly. I used a traditional no pectin recipe from a Farm Journal cookbook. As a kid, I remember reading the Farm Journal at my grandmother's one acre home with a half acre garden.
