It is permitted to turn right on a red light everywhere in Quebec, except on the island of Montreal and where a sign prohibits it. To take advantage of this privilege, you must, however, follow a few rules.

Before turning right on a red light, whether you are driving a car or sitting on your bike, you must:

🔷Stop at the stop line or before the crossing;
🔷Signal your intention to turn right;
🔷Check that there is no sign prohibiting right turns on a red light;
🔷Yield the right of way to other road users who are in the intersection or about to enter;
🔷Make sure there are no pedestrians or cyclists coming from your right.

Remember that the pedestrian always has priority if a pedestrian light allows him to cross, but if the light is activated and no one is crossing, you can go ahead. If there is no light, the pedestrian has priority at the green light.

Turning right at a red light is not mandatory, it is a privilege.
