Trust me, you don’t want me in your Book Club!! Maybe it’s bad lighting, or it’s perhaps when I hit rock bottom with depression during COVID-19, but I can barely get through the first 10 pages of most Self-Help books.
Still, I like to stay ahead of my industry, and there are a few Self-Help books I always refer to when I need direction and focus.
My favorite is The Rise by Danette May.
I have even read it front to back, in a day to be exact! There are STILL dozens of great lessons I keep coming back to, like:
It was ok to hit rock bottom. But remind yourself that getting back up and igniting your spirit could be done in 15-minute increments.
If you wake up and only have energy for a shower, put on clean jammies and go back to bed. That's ok. I just wanted to let you know that you accomplished something today.
If you woke up the next day, showered, and did one load of dishes. That is okay because you accomplished two things today. And, if you did one more thing each day, each day would get more accessible and more effortless.
So, now, if I have a terrible day, I just remember to give myself 15 minutes for a task. If I want to keep going, just add another 15 minutes.
What’s your favorite Self-Help book?
