Figuring out your style and brand wording doesn’t come overnight. 🌟 It can take years of fine-tuning to truly know what you want and don’t want. Finding clarity in your preferences can make all the difference in attracting couples who resonate with your vision.
Knowing what you don't want to capture on a wedding day is just as important as knowing what you love to focus on. This clarity helps in creating a unique style that stands out and draws in clients who share your aesthetic and values. Whether it’s capturing candid moments full of emotion or focusing on the intricate details that tell a story, your distinct style is what sets you apart.
Here are some tips for defining your style and brand wording:
1. **Self-Reflection**: Take time to review your past work and identify the elements you love the most.
2. **Client Feedback**: Listen to what past clients have loved about your work. This can offer valuable insights.
3. **Inspiration Boards**: Create mood boards that reflect your ideal style and aesthetic.
4. **Consistent Messaging**: Ensure your website, social media, and marketing materials consistently reflect your brand's voice and style.
5. **Experiment and Evolve**: Don’t be afraid to try new things and evolve your style over time.
Remember, your unique style will attract the right clients who appreciate your vision and creativity. Stay true to what you love, and your passion will shine through in every shot. 📸💖

Understanding that anxiety and stress are part of a wedding day is so important. 🌸 We've often found that the month leading up to the wedding can be incredibly tricky because so much is happening in those moments. This is especially true for the ladies, with countless tasks needing attention, especially in the final week.
From last-minute fittings and beauty appointments to coordinating with vendors and finalizing the guest list, the to-do list seems endless. But remember, it's all part of creating your dream day! 💖
Here are some tips to help manage stress in the weeks leading up to your wedding:
1. **Stay Organized**: Keep a checklist and a timeline to track everything.
2. **Delegate Tasks**: Don’t hesitate to ask for help from your bridal party and family.

Why second shooting for FREE isn't the answer to building your portfolio.
Most pros will never hire someone without experience. Unless the couple didn't hire a professional and the photographer wants to come as a bonus that is different. However, it's not really that beneficial if they can't learn the process.
We recommend finding a mentor and building your portfolio that way whenever possible. Situations that are set up specifically for learning are ideal.
Another option is being an assistant and not shooting, this way you can help the main photographer, however you're focus is on learning the language, the locations, the dynamics of a day without the pressure of shooting. This also helps build rapport with the photographer who may eventually hire you to shoot once they see your dedication and effort.
Paying for a mentor is also a great idea as well. Setting up a scenario where you can learn about the pre and post production and how to run your business is insanely valuable.
Starting out as a wedding photographer or videographer it feels like it takes so long to truly get established ...it's because you need to learn so many different things. It's why it's such a specialized skill and it takes lots of trial and error because not every wedding is the same.
I think that's the most exciting part is that you never know exactly how it's going to go down, even with the best laid out plan. When you hire a pro you hire someone who's seen and experienced all kinds of scenarios and trust me you want that person in your corner.
Where the MAGIC Happens when you hire a team who does BOTH photo and video. We move like a well synchronized swimmers in and around the wedding day.
We all have the same game plan and we feed off each others creativeness. Working with a team is definitely something every couple should be considering on a wedding day for Wedding Photography and Videography.
Questioning HOW people hired you in the beginning is a truly humbling experience.
Of course it's your history and we all start somewhere, but in the beginning you have this false sense of how good you are, when in reality it takes SO MUCH TIME and PRACTICE to get where these other people are!
It's fun to look back and see how far you've come, trust me! So eye awakening!
Just BE FUN... it's crucial to be fun and part of the day fully, leave any drama at the Door.
Your job as a member of the wedding party is to try and give your best self and make the person who is getting married have the best day ever. Set your issues aside and make sure they are feeling like number 1.
Navigating Birth as a Wedding Photographer is no easy feat. Whenever we found out we were pregnant with twins it seemed inevitable that they would come early.
We didn't expect it to be 8 weeks early and of course that is how life goes. You never get a heads up for things. Things just come at you and you have to navigate that while also trying to navigate someone's wedding day circumstances.
Understanding that we are all human is definitely a part of the business we needed to learn and took more time than we'd like to admit.
The reality of back-up plan and how important it is to have one. However, having a good connection to the community also plays a valid role incase anything comes up.
In our case going into labour at midnight the night before a wedding proved difficult, however, having a good connection and supportive group meant that we were able to find someone quickly.
We also do a lot of preparation with our clients, we have checklists, we have family photo lists, we have a fully detailed timeline created weeks before.
What was key about this is we were able to have a conversation with the new photographers about everything and they also had a complete checklist available to them throughout the day.
