2 years. They say time heals all wounds, and that's partly true but what never leaves is the void. The void of losing someone too soon. We say too soon because there's always something else we all wanted to do before our time: get rich, go on more vacations, etc... It's not about that because it's never too soon or too late to remember the lessons. Here are a few lessons taught to me by my parents:
1. Respect others the same way you'd want them to respect you.
2. If at first you don't succeed, try again.
3. If you get knocked down, get up.
4. Love yourself for who you are.
5. Keep your stick on the ice.
Dad taught me to be a better man, athlete, spouse and all-around decent guy. Both my parents are superheroes for having raised 3 kids, working long hours and volunteering their time for scouts, hockey, swimming, theater and more.
You're only given one shot on this planet, at least for now, and Dan Arcand's go around, I think he did a pretty damn good job with the time he had.
Miss you, Dad. Every day.
