Please be conscious of the traffic challenges that will be faces this weekend;

Below is a note from the Ottawa Police Service - Service de police d'Ottawa

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is advising that demonstrations expected in Ottawa throughout the weekend, starting Friday, will have significant impacts on traffic throughout the area, and may also impact your business.

Our Community Police Officers have been meeting with BIAs and businesses. We want to ensure that you have as much information about the weekend demonstrations as possible.

The OPS will always be available to respond to any issues of safety you may encounter by dialing 911. For issues relating to the COVID-19 restrictions and masking, please call 311.

All open source information and our interactions with Freedom Rally organizers indicate that this will be a significant and extremely fluid event that could go on for a prolonged period.

Residents and visitors can expect to see a large police and emergency services presence in the downtown core and on major highways and roads. Traffic delays and congestion will occur and may occur on a large scale.

QUESTIONS?

We encourage you to reach out to your Community Police Officer if you have specific questions or concerns, or you can email [email protected] and someone will get in touch with you.

Police and the City of Ottawa will keep the public informed on city-wide traffic and transit.

We ask that members of the public avoid unnecessary travel, especially in the downtown core, this weekend, if possible. If you do travel, plan ahead and expect significant delays.

STAY UPDATED

Follow the City of Ottawa for real-time updates or utilize a traffic monitoring app like Google or Waze to check for traffic congestion before you travel.

On Wednesday, the Ottawa Police Services Board hosted a special meeting and the Ottawa Police provided details on their approach for these events. You can find out more about the information shared on the City Council YouTube page.

Le Service de police d’Ottawa (SPO) tient à vous informer que des manifestations prévues à Ottawa toute la fin de semaine, dès vendredi, auront d’importantes répercussions sur la circulation à travers la ville, et pourraient aussi affecter vos affaires.

Nos agents de police communautaire ont tenu des rencontres avec des ZAC et des entreprises. Nous tenons à ce que vous disposiez d’un maximum de renseignements sur les manifestations de la fin de semaine.

Le SPO sera toujours là pour intervenir relativement à toute question de sûreté qui pourrait advenir; le cas échéant, faites le 9-1-1. En cas de questions portant sur les restrictions liées à la COVID-19 et au port du couvre-visage, veuillez composer le 3-1-1.

Toute l’information source ouverte et nos échanges avec les organisateurs du « Freedom Rally » nous portent à croire qu’il s’agira d’une manifestation importante et d’une extrême fluidité, et susceptible de durer assez longtemps.

Les résidents et les visiteurs devront s’attendre à une forte présence de la police et des autres services d’urgence, soit au centre-ville et sur les autoroutes et voies de circulation majeures. On s’attend à des ralentissements et des embouteillages, et ce à grande échelle.
