Their story is we find helpful and a very positive message for anyone struggling. I got into a serious drug addiction while serving and I couldn't figure out to bring myself to ask for help, I tried to kill myself every day either with drugs or by various other attempts because I felt like I had no hope and I was terrified to reach out and get help because of the substance I was using it and how I was using it....

Subpar living conditions in military shacks are something many troops are familiar with. However in some instances members are exposed to much lower standards of living. Here at the Hook Mafia we have been sent multiple pictures and videos that show just how bad the standard of living has dropped. Sadly it has been reported that these issues have been reported to the barrack wardens, a position that is held by commissioners in charge of making sure repairs and rules are followed in the barracks....

The Royal Canadian Legion, an organization that many of us have fond memories of from our youth now seems to have fallen into a shadow of its former self. More and more it seems to be a growing feeling amongst the veteran community, and recently the civilian populace, that the Legion no longer holds the same values it once did. A group that once proudly advertised that they supported veterans now seems to be more hiding under the blanket of claiming they’re run by veterans....

It has been sometime since anyone in the CAF has managed to get a kill since our Afghanistan mission came to a close. However we have been informed that on October 19th 2022 a member of 1 Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry managed to get the regiments first one. “Keepers of the Copyright” - As a symbol of remembrance you’d think the poppy would be public domain. Free for anyone to use. Well if you did. You thought wrong. The Royal Canadian Legion has claimed ownership of the poppy and have threatened legal action against numerous Canadian veterans and groups for using it as part of their logo. Intellectual property law firm Ridout and Maybee LLP, which represents the Legion, says the poppy is a registered trademark and can't be used for commercial or personal use unless there is prior approval....

The idea for the Afghan Memorial Flower was born from the community itself. Over the decades the Legion has continuously maligned our generation of current serving and recently released veterans. The Poppy, Canada and the Commonwealth's symbol for veterans and remembrance, has been weaponized by this organization due to its overbearing trademark laws on it. The Legion has been attacking Canadian veterans and veteran charities for using it in good stead and even claim it has copyright on the "act of Remembrance"....

At approximately 12:30pm May 19th 2022 an armoured UN vehicle with one military personal and 2 civilians on route from the Regional city of Timbuktu, Mali en route to the UN FOB would find themselves in a dire situation. A hostile vehicle with four - six armed hostiles armed with AK47's tried to overtake the UN armoured vehicle, resulting in hostile forces taking out the wheels on the vehicle....

HMCS Kingston’s wild ride home As some of you may recall it was reported by CTV news this past august, that it will be the first time Canadian frigates will be absent from Op Reassurance since 2014. As most sailors will be quick to tell you over a beer, or coffee, its because to put it in our colourful technical opinions, “they’re fu**ed bud.” Years of hard wear, long operations, and poor refits by civilian contractors who refuse to admit they’re not able to deliver, have left Canada’s last remaining “warships” in a state of constant work periods leaving us unable to fulfill our NATO commitments....

UPDATE!!! Fri Morning

We can now confirm with the amount of people who have contacted us that the TAPVs are now grounded CAF wide. Details currently are not confirmed as of yet. We will keep you posted as soon as we know more!

UPDATE!!! Thurs Afternoon

We have received from multiple people that the TAPVs have been grounded CAF wide. These reports are currently only rumors and we will be sure to let you know if it is confirmed however it looks like this might be a strong possibility.

BREAKING!!

We have reports, that yesterday 26 October 2022 there was a TAPV rollover at CFB Valcartier outside of camp Vimy. It is presumed the accident is due to an issue with the brakes. It is reported that all 3 members who were involved are alive but required immediate medical attention. One currently has 3 broken vertebrae while another has broken ribs and a punctured lung. The 3rd currently remains unknown what injuries the member has sustained. All 3 belong to 5e Régiment d’artillerie légère du Canada, based out if CFB Valcartier, Quebec. Our thoughts are with those affected and hope for a speedy recovery.

This only a week after another TAPV rolled over at CFB Petawawa due to brake issues as well.

Official statement from HMCS Calgary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of PO1 Carlos Cea. Carlos was reported missing earlier this week, and after a thorough search, his body was found in a wooded area near Work Point in Esquimalt B.C. The Military Police are supporting the BC Coroner’s office in the investigation - no further details are available at this time.

Carlos' family have been notified, and are asking for privacy and space as they navigate this difficult period.

Carlos was a leader in Calgary, highly regarded for his personal dedication and care for others. He spent 18 years and close to 1000 days at sea in service to Canada. He was a loving husband, a proud father of four, and a shipmate to many.

C’est le cœur lourd que nous vous annonçons le décès du M 1 Carlos Cea. Carlos a été porté disparu plus tôt cette semaine et, après des recherches approfondies, son corps a été retrouvé dans un boisé près de Work Point, à Esquimalt, en Colombie-Britannique. La police militaire collabore avec le bureau du coroner de la Colombie-Britannique dans le cadre de l’enquête. Nous ne disposons pas d’autres renseignements pour l’instant.

La famille de Carlos a été informée et elle demande de respecter sa vie privée et son espace en cette période difficile.

Carlos était un leader à Calgary, tenu en haute estime pour son dévouement personnel et son souci des autres. Il a passé 18 ans et près de 1000 jours en mer au service du Canada. Il était un mari, un fier père de quatre enfants et un compagnon de bord auprès de nombreuses personnes.
