πŸ’— Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 in Nova Scotia,Canada when two high school students organized their peers to wear pink in support of a Grade 9 boy who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. What started as a small act of solidarity quickly became a national and now international movement against bullying.
The message was simple but powerful: when one person is targeted, we stand together.

At Afro-Caribbean Thrive(BITC), we understand that bullying is not always loud, it can show up as exclusion, discrimination, racial bias, or silence in the face of harm. For many Black and newcomer youth, these experiences deeply impact mental health, confidence, and sense of belonging.

Pink Shirt Day reminds us that being an upstander is a choice.
A choice to speak up.
A choice to support.
A choice to build safer, more inclusive spaces.

Today, we recommit to creating environments where young people feel seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.
Kindness is leadership.
Solidarity is action.
