What makes this media team truly remarkable is that it is run by a talented group of individuals with developmental disabilities, who receive the necessary support to showcase their skills and talents. Social media enthusiasts at Community Living Oakville explore everything from creating to managing their own (Facebook, Youtube, instagram, twitter, tiktok, snapchat, linkedin)sites, creating content (podcasts, videos, photography) related to their interests, interview guests and present at public speaking engagements. In The Loop media members interested in the technical side of social media will operate cameras, edit footage, and upload to various social media sites like facebook, youtube, twitter and instagram.

Our Story

GOOD NEWS for a change!

In The Loop Media is a media outlet that focuses on delivering news, stories, and covering events of interest such as sports, gaming, theatre, television, movies, interviewing inclusive businesses, politicians, and people who are doing great things in our community. This was originated by people who have a developmental disability to fulfill their desires and passion for public expression, to enrich their quality of life, enhance their skill level and help them gain new transferable skills that will lead them on a path of self-discovery and self-reliance. Participants and their families have already witnessed an increase in their self-esteem, enhanced communication skills, pride of having an important/valued role in the community, learning to work cohesively in a team environment, increased level of independence and a newfound desire to succeed.
