this big beautiful bastard just keeps on growing and sizing up even though I’ve kept in pretty middling conditions at best – in front of a grow light and on a heat mat, sure, but bare root in water with nothing but super basic feed and a little superthrive since I got him.

laziness wins over here right now – been a tough slog the last month. I’m glad he hasn’t succumbed to any root rot and has actually been putting on new water roots while he waits for the inevitable repotting.

no filter. also no anthuriums 😂.

just planted out my first herbs of the season – bbq rosemary and tarragon. we only get sunshine for 1 days a week here in May, it seems. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I gave these guys their own terracotta pot this year because the thyme I had shared with them last year took over goddamn everything. so now thyme gets his own room.

now I just need to figure this out with my kids. 🤦‍♂️

baby bro and big bro.

the little guy was a stump with the barest hint of a questionable growth point when I received it via from .ec and it was definitely touch and go for a while there.

I have a replacement waiting in the wings, but I was pretty pumped to see that the tree fern + perlite saved this guy (it had minimal roots) and it’s starting to bounce back. I’ve had it sitting in a doubled-up drink container taped together at the back of my for nearly 3 months so I’m happy to see it’s finally starting to acclimate and come back.

the colour on these guys is amazing, grey-green with a hint of slate. there’s a bit of a buff shine to it but it’s so different from my orher anthuriums that it’s definitely going to have a special spot around here once I’ve finished rehabbing it. love the contrast against my “unknown papi hybrid” x lux from in the background.

this guy surprised me. thought he was going to take his sweet time acclimating to and no, lo and behold, spectacular leaf pops when no one’s expecting it. and the form is so much more mature than the previous leaf.

I have this guy sitting in pretty weak conditions… open air in my downstairs with super low humidity; and this leaf came out pretty solid. props to because I’ve taken 2 props off this and they’re both just as healthy as the mother plant.

btw, if you’re interested in one of the props and you’re in , hit me up in my DMs and we can figure something out.

still floppy.. already 50% larger than the last leaf and it’s not even hardened off yet. looks plain evil up close, blood red sinus and midrib. still a little bit weirdly asymmetrical which I absolutely love.

ok.. don’t get too excited seeing those abs. 🤤

this guy had absolutely mediocre roots after I got him in here via .ec, mostly due to delays between plant shipping and me picking it up from my “plant handler” (thanks brandon!). no fault on anyone besides myself here, but we’re still trying to get re-rooted.

but I have high hopes for this little bastard. he already looks great, so want to keep him that way. he also has a growth point that has NOT died off or dried out yet, so hope still lives on. he’s in tree fern and perlite with a leca base layer, roots dipped into on the way in. been a couple of weeks, now we wait and see.

interestingly I’ve kept this guy in open air (low 30-40% room humidity) the entire time, though on a heat mat. I’ve rooted other that were clearly more sensitive to humidity in exactly the same way, on the same heat mat, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. this was a select pick so I do really like it… updates to come as it rehabs.

ok couldn’t help it… same plant as the last pic I know. but look at this emergent! not only is it wacky shaped like all the other leaves, but it’s already huge and still blood red. love this thing.

let’s mess with you all this Tuesday evening. this is a _reverse_ of my latest acquisition. picked this baby up from via the always awesome .root.contessa here in 🇨🇦. excited to see how it grows out… little bonus at the end. and I’m pretty sure I’ve earned that tag now, .

this dude just keeps getting better with every leaf. this is the newest since my latest 📺 YT video last week (link in story!), just hardened off and slightly larger than the previous one, still in the same 3”-ish orchid pot/ setup.

love this guy, totally one of my favourites. each leaf is slightly wackier than the last. and this one now has a reddish sinus peeking through that I hadn’t noticed on previous leaves. awesome grower.

even better – a new emergent already popping even though the last leaf literally just started hardening off.

new video is up! a day late for but it’s the thought that counts, right? been a while coming on this one, just getting back into the swing of things – hopefully you guys didn’t forget about me. 😁

this one is all , all the time. 11 plants of various shapes and sizes, several pretty new imports or acquisitions. cogranthuriumsuple oldies but goodies, too. 😉 are you sub’d yet??

surface of the moon? 🌖 nah. that’s all .

took these about 2 weeks ago before we took off to for a week and forgot to get around to posting them.

this is one of my favourite plants at the moment – it’s a pap hybrid (unknown parentage) x luxurians from . I got this probably spring or early summer last year (would need to check) as a germinated seed and I think I may have up-potted it in one of my earlier anthurium seedling YT videos 📺 (link in bio if you’re not subbed yet!!)

in any case I love this guy just because of his general weirdness and asymmetry – this thing has been checked for bugs repeatedly and sprayed to death but still keeps putting out strangely deformed and off-kilter leaves and it’s just awesome. it’s putting out yet another new leaf right now (not shown – soon!) that’s also totally wonky and is sizing up nicely. it’s pretty heavily rooted into and I think I may need to upsize it soon depending on how big the new leaf gets. 🤞🏼 so far so good!

I think I showed you guys this one a little while back. dig through my previous posts and you’ll see the emergent. so the previous leaf came out looking like a dumpster fire 🔥 – o hai, safer’s end-all – but this new sucker looks spectacular, it’s 3x the size of the previous “good” leaf, and it’s bigger than the friggin’ pot it’s in. loving the unexpectedly rugged leaf texture, even though it’s quite thin to the touch (new leaf isn’t quite hardened off yet, either.)

this is sitting in my downstairs … very crowded atm.

this method is working pretty well so far. I have 2-3 other anthuriums in the same setup popping huge new leaves. upcoming video (YT link in bio!) already recorded and will discuss the process and results. can be a little finicky moving up from smaller pots in transitional media (tree feen/perlite, sphagnum moss) but eventually things settle down and it starts growing like a BEAST.

patience is definitely a virtue with anthuriums, particularly with seedlings and immature plants.

been a while – work, sick, kids, vacation – back now and thought I’d start with some basic b*tch classic since this was staring me in the face while I was in the middle of editing a new video and I couldn’t resist. nothing fancy but this leaf looked fantastic so here we are.

I got this from lauren waaay back in 2021 – I think it was originally an import – and it’s “died” at least twice since them. and looking great.
