Now back up on the NDG Ska Bandcamp site. Late 1990s NYC ska band founded by former Ny Citizens vocalist Robert Tierney. I was fortunate enough to be living in the Big Apple at that time and played baritone sax on this EP by The Atwood 9.

Welcome to the scene Ska Sound System. Some friends of ours gearing up for some summer fun and beyond.

Né d'un amour partagé de musique ska, punk & reggae et d’un besoin post-pandémique de jouer, chanter, danser et faire le party, des ami(e)s et musiciens et musiciennes de Montréal partent un projet pour le fun : Ska Sound System.

Formé de membres de groupes montréalais (Grimskunk, Me, Mom & Morgentaler, Colectivo, Francbâtards, FoOlish, Van Hornies et Blue Monkey Project), ce band n'a nulle autre prétention que de faire chanter, danser et tripper les gens à travers la musique diversifiée old school et moderne de ska, punk et reggae de groupes comme Sublime, The Clash, The Specials, Operation Ivy, Rancid, T***s & the Maytals, Madness… et quelques classiques de Grimskunk.

Comme le dit si bien la chanson d’Operation Ivy :

Born out of a shared love of ska, punk & reggae, and a post-pandemic need to let loose, and skank it up, a group of musicians and friends in Montreal have put together a project called Ska Sound System to have fun and make people dance and sing.

Featuring members of several Montreal bands (Grimskunk, Me, Mom & Morgentaler, Colectivo, FoOlish, Francbâtards, Van Hornies, Blue Monkey Project), this group has no pretension other than to spread good party vibes through a diverse array of old school and modern ska, punk and reggae through the music of bands like Sublime, The Clash, the Specials, Operation Ivy, Rancid, T***s & the Maytals, Madness, etc… all with a touch of international and latin ska and a few Grimskunk classics to boot.

As the lyrics go :

NDG Ska holiday fundraiser for Le Dépôt / The Depot (NDG Food Bank)

I've just uploaded the final three tracks on my 12th solo album "Butter." All proceeds from the sales of this album and any of the tracks on it will be donated to NDG's food bank Le Depot/The Depot. Forever.

The album is all solo material but I rallied Osmosis Unlimited for the closing track, a cover of my karaoke go-to anthem "Just a Gi**lo."
