Yiara Magazine is a bilingual undergraduate feminist publication that fosters feminist dialogue within the field of art. We are currently accepting text and visual art submissions for our 14th volume. These must reflect an expanded vision of intersectional feminism and art. We are looking for artwork and text submissions for our upcoming print issue!
Thematic description:
The Nasty, the Hysterical, and the Radical seeks to subvert and reclaim notions of historically abjected, sensationalized, or pathologized womanhood. For Yiara’s fourteenth volume, we seek works that challenge normative and limiting frameworks of femininity associated with emotional or corporeal expressions: the nasty, hysterical, excessive, unruly, or unbecoming.
This theme focuses on affect, embodiment, opacity, and the hidden underbelly of lived experience. Seeking to foreground alternative modes being, we welcome pieces that engage with the unspoken, repressed, or disavowed. Contributors are encouraged to reflect on their personal, communal, or political relationships to femininity in all its intersectional and multiplicious forms. We look forward to reading and viewing a range of transgressive, imaginative, and radical work!
