the leaves and i - out now!!

i wrote this song a month after moving out for the first time to the city of montreal.

i was so lucky that i got to record the song at Studio Dandurand earlier this year with the amazing Alex Métivier!! Alex did basically everything for this release: he engineered the song, played almost every instrument you hear, co-produced the song, AND mixed the song. THANK YOU ALEX!!

I also want to thank David Laurendeau for mastering the song and to my friends Sophia, Kyleigh, Jamie, and Brooklyn who came to the studio to shout and sing with me. LOVE U

And so the day has come.
A project I’ve been preparing for the past year and half, a third chapter. Feels like an odd time to be releasing music but in a way this album fits the mood. Fits mine at least. Somewhat different than what I’ve released in the past, but close to where I come from. A pause from synths and samples, to leave way for the organic, the analog. Everything recorded live. Most of these songs I wrote at home, sitting on my balcony or on the piano inside. The rest I came up with while traveling.

Time is at the core of LSDW. And in short, the message here is to spend it wisely. It’s a note to self more than anything. I hope you can hear everything I had to say, all the care and the attention to detail I put into this.

And to all of you, thank you for your interest and attention. It’s something I’ll never take for granted and without which I doubt I’d be pushing myself as much creatively. Music is a process, a journey, and I feel like I’m still just getting started.

Ça y est, un projet sur lequel je travaille depuis un an et demi. Le 3e chapitre. Ça fait drôle de sortir de la musique dans ce contexte mais en même temps j’ai l’impression que c’est le bon moment de partager cet album. Une pause des synths et des samples pour faire place à l’acoustique, aux instruments, aux voix. Un album entièrement enregistré en direct. La plupart de ces chansons je les ai écrites chez nous, assis sur mon balcon ou au piano à l’intérieur. Le reste, je l’ai composé en voyage.

Le temps est au coeur de LSDW. Bref, ce qu’il y a à retenir c’est de profiter du temps qu’on a. C’est p-e plus une note à moi même qu’autre chose. J’espère que vous pourrez entendre tout ce que j’avais dire, tout le soin et la bienveillance que j’ai mis là-dedans.

À vous tous, merci infiniment de votre intérêt, de votre attention. C’est une chose que je ne prendrai jamais pour acquis et qui me pousse à continuer à explorer ma propre créativité. Un 3e album et pourtant j’ai encore l’impression que je ne fais que commencer. Bonne écoute, à bientôt.
