creators including:

✨PAMYUA
Pamyua is a self-described Inuit-soul musical group that blends Yup’ik culture with influences from
around the world. Pamyua was co-founded by Phillip Blanchett / Kilirnguq (Central Yup’ik),
Stephen Blanchett (Central Yup’ik) and Ossie Kairaiuak / Aassanaaq (Central Yup’ik). In July 2019
the So Surreal team filmed Pamyua in Alaska as they danced and sang their track They Sing out
on the land. The track was used at different moments throughout the film. Yup’ik dancer Tuna’qi

✨SALTWATER HANK
Jeremy Pahl is Ts’msyen musician Saltwater Hank who writes and sings in his language,
Sm’algyax. Ts’msyen Nation is located on the northwest coast. Saltwater Hank was playing in
Alert Bay in the Summer of 2023 when the So Surreal team caught his show. Saltwater Hank’s

✨NAT KING COLE
In September 2019, we were in Paris getting ready to interview Chuna McIntyre. Chuna was
going through some family photos and listening to Nat King Cole’s Mona Lisa Smile. Turns out
this is one of Chuna’s favourite songs and we are thrilled to be able to reference it in the scene
where Chuna visits the magnificent Yup’ik Swan Mask and the Mona Lisa at the Louvre followed
by a short jaunt on the Seine with Neil.
