Implicit Conversions may soon bring your PS3 retro games to your modern consoles via "SYRUP" emulation engine? 🥳

According to the latest news, Sony finally wants to go forward with their previously discussed project of making PS3 games backwards compatible with more modern hardware.

It was recently announced that they're currently in a partnership with "Implicit Conversions", which creates emulators that use high-level emulation (HLE) & low-level emulation (LLE) techniques.

This means some device components, graphical effects & game functions are replaced with modern versions. This aims to retain emulation quality while allowing for modern enhancements & functionality.

These techniques allow them to bring networked multiplayer, modern bloom & lighting readback effects, high-quality videos & updated forms of input control to titles across different consoles like the PlayStation 5 & Nintendo Switch... The emulation engine in question is called "SYRUP".

At this point, it's unclear whether physical PS3 game discs will play on your modern consoles, if the games will have to be purchased digitally ONLY on PSN or if users will have access to both options (physical & digital).

Since they're still in the creation process, no specific release date has been confirmed yet for the emulator & no info was provided in terms of which games are going to be made available in the first run. That said, reliable sources claim this should happen sooner rather than later. One thing is for sure, we'll keep you posted with future updates.

Hurry up & grab your physical copy of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered now before it's too late!

Since its digital release on December 10, 2024, fans of the series have been hoping & wondering when or if physical copies would ever be available on the market.

An advertisement from Limited Run Games was released yesterday January 6th. So far, the only option to get a physical copy is to Pre-order from their website.

This means the Duology will most likely not be sold on Amazon, nor at Game Stop, Best Buy, Walmart & other similar stores. Unless they decide to change plans. But it's better not to take for granted that this will happen as it probably won't.

A Standard Edition & Collector's Edition are both available depending on your budget.

Sadly, the PS5 version (Standard Edition) has already Sold Out within less than 24 hours. The XBOX Series X|S & Switch versions are still available but you might not want to miss out on this opportunity, so you should act fast before it's gone.

A new NES/PC game, Haunted Halloween ’87: Year of the Witch by Retrotainment, is in development! (Kickstarter)

The NES/Famicom was released in 1983 in Japan & in 1985 in North America. 40 years later, retro fans will be happy to hear about this new NES game "Haunted Halloween ’87: Year of the Witch" by Indie developer "Retrotainment Games" from Pittsburgh, PA.

The team previously worked on (2) other NES titles: "Haunted Halloween ’85" and "Haunted Halloween ’86". This one completes the trilogy & will celebrate their 10th anniversary of making games on Oct 25, 2025.

The Kickstarter campaign has now started. The project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Oct 31, 2024, 11:59 PM EDT.

At this time, no specific release date has been confirmed yet & it's unclear as to whether the game will also be released on the more modern consoles. But we'll keep you posted with future updates.

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos official trailer is out! 🥳

Some may remember the previous announcement for the 1997 PS1/SAT/PC classic Remaster earlier this year. While we're still unsure what will happen with its sequel "Croc 2", the first & original Croc is getting closer to its disclosure.

The game will be released on all consoles (PS4, PS5, XB1, Series X|S, Switch and on PC (GOG). No specific release date has been confirmed yet, but we'll keep you posted with future updates.

1995 original Rayman game Remake in development!

We haven't heard from the franchise since 2013’s Rayman Legends. Now, Ubisoft is currently working on remaking the first Rayman. It was originally released in 1995 for various systems (Atari Jaguar, PS1, Sega Saturn, MS-DOS) systems. It was later released on GBC, GBA, Palm OS, Nintendo DSi, and iOS.

Ubisoft Milan is in charge of the project (for the most part) with developers who worked on "Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown," which some have been re-assigned to work on the Remake.

This time, Rayman creator "Michel Ancel" will serve as a consultant instead of a director or producer. Ancel left Ubisoft in 2020 due to toxic work environment allegations against him. Some people working on the Remake weren't thrilled with the idea.

At this time, no specific release date has been confirmed as the game is still early in its development. But we'll keep you posted with future updates.

What are your thoughts?

Following gameplay videos & reviews or after having played Tomb Raider (1-2-3) Remastered, which came out earlier this year... It was recently announced that the Multi-Platform trilogy Tomb Raider (4-5-6) Remastered will be available on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2025.

The game is planned to be released on all consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch) as well as on PC (Steam, Epic Games).

Horror PS2 game resurfaces on PS4 & PS5?

"Siren" is a Survival-horror - Adventure - Stealth video game that was originally released on PS2 in 2003 in Japan & in 2004 in North America & Europe. It was recently announced that the title will be rereleased on both PS4 & PS5 systems. At this time, it's already on PS4 & will soon launch on PS5 on Oct 15, 2024, to celebrate Halloween.

The series counts (3) games in total, its sequel, "Siren 2", known as "Forbidden Siren" (in certain regions), also came out on PS2 & was released in 2006. The third game, "Siren: Blood Curse," was released on PS3 in 2008.

It was developed by "Keiichiro Toyama" (writer & director of the original "Silent Hill"). He was hired at PlayStation to work on his first project, "Siren." He later created cult-classics "Gravity Rush" 1 & 2.

Signs that more XBOX 360 games may resurface?

The previously delisted XBOX 360 First-person shooter video game "Singularity" has recently returned to sale. It was originally released as a Multi-Platform title in (2010) as it also came out on PC & PS3. It was developed by "Raven Software" & published by "Activision".

At the moment, the XBOX store only has the PC version available for sale. It hasn't been officially confirmed yet but it sounds like the game will soon be back to XBOX consoles via backward compatibility.
