Turbo Recordings

Turbo Recordings Home of the Hits since 1998 Ranging from pure techno, electro, and house to pop, Turbo has released some of the globe's seminal dance tracks ever.

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. 25 years later, the label continues to impact electronic music on a global scale. The list of artists who have released music on the label is a veritable 'who's who' of top-level talent spanning a broad musical range. Our bespoke balance of untethered musical output, paired with our ongoing commitment to beautiful design, has earned Tu

rbo immense respect in the dance music industry and a cult following among fans worldwide. Stemming from Tiga’s experiences in the Montreal underground scene as a rave promoter and nightclub owner in the early 90’s, Turbo Recordings was founded as a platform to harness & develop the community that was building during the early days of electronic music. Tiga & Turbo have been foundational pillars of Canadian electronic music since the genre’s very inception.

300+ releases later, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Azari & III, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont, ANNA, Charlotte de Witte, Kenny Glasgow, and Tiga himself. The plaudits are endless : from JUNO awards to chart topping singles to club cult classics - Turbo has been at the forefront of sound recording for a quarter-century. Hit tracks include Tiga’s Sunglasses At Night and Let’s Go Dancing, Azari & III’s Hungry For The Power, Duke Dumont’s The Giver, Gesaffelstein’s OPR, and Chromeo’s Fancy Footwork. While offering a launching pad for some of the most successful electronic acts of our time, Turbo has also released projects from legendary names in the scene : Richie Hawtin, Chilly Gonzales, Moby & Fever Ray most notably. A seasoned pedigree for A&R has kept Turbo at the cutting edge, consistently pushing the boundaries of electronic music to new heights. Despite the complicated & fickle nature of the rapidly changing music industry, Turbo has remained commited to Montreal & it’s local dance scene, while continuing to serve as an ambassador for Canadian electronic music to the global masses. Over the last 25 years, Turbo & our artists have hosted shows at some of the most legendary venues in the world - from Coachella to Sónar Festival to Berghain to Stereo to Tomorrowland and beyond. Turbo has ensured Canadian music remains at the forefront of Techno since day one. Visual art & design has been a pillar of the imprint at every step. Turbo has collaborated with internationally renowned graphic artists such as Virgil Abloh, Wolfgang Tillmans, David Rudnick, and Cali Dewitt. Remaining firmly at the innovative intersection between visual design & sound recording has propelled Turbo’s impact across artistic communities. When it comes to Canadian electronic music - Turbo has been at the top since the very start. 25 years later, it’s only just begun.

Turbo Recordings is proud to present the label debut of Anastasia Kristensen, with her ‘Moments of Inertia’ EP.

As we enter our 26th year of existence, Turbo is constantly and violently shocked that exciting techno music is still being made. After a certain point, you expect yourself to look a genre square in the face and say “Enough!” But we consider ourselves the luckiest vanity imprint on the planet to be able to harness the talent of artists like Copenhagen-based DJ-producer Anastasia Kristensen and serve it up to you in this - your darkest hour.

The A1 ‘I’d Love To Do It’ leads with vivacious drum programming and Kristensen’s enigmatic vocals, and is OUT NOW on all streaming platforms.

Thank you to Mixmag for the premiere - https://turborec.lnk.to/AnastasiaKristensen

The “ALBUM”. One of the last true luxuries.
Is there any more romantic, ridiculous, inefficient and hopelessly out of date enterprise? Well, we still make them. Not because it makes sense- but because we are the dreamers of dreams.

This is our new one. Another chapter opened and closed. Made with my great friend - Ross ie Hudson Mohawke - over an exceptionally bizarre period of 4years, 2019-2023.

There is no master plan.

Hope you love it.

Following his recent Chiral long player on Nous'klaer Audio, Martinou debuts on Turbo with ‘The Sheltered Planet’ EP.

"Getting Into It" opens the EP in atmospheric mode with serene synths and ambient textures. "I Told You We'd Make It" also has an ethereal sensibility, but it is wrapped into a lithe, techy rhythm. Plotting a similar path on "Exhilaration", Martinou drops dubbed out drums, which act as the backdrop for waves of brooding chords. "The Offering" is the only outlier on the release. On this occasion, the kicks are tougher and the bass clangs with a metallic swagger - the end result is a lean, hypnotic techno track.

Turbo’s decades-long fixation on Sweden pays off again, with the latest music from white-hot producer Martinou landing TODAY.

It’s a tale as old as 1998. An artist and label lock eyes across an oversaturated dance music market, and begin an elaborate and mildly erotic email courtship. Months later, thousands of satisfied listeners emerge from the Industry Birth Canal into a deeper, more groove-laden world.

With its melancholy washes of synth and 36-hour-party-appropriate beats, Martinou’s Turbo debut appeals to the only two techno demographics that matter: dancers and shut-ins. Whether or not you accept that you are one or the other, you’ll at least have the decency to acknowledge that this is one of the very best releases of the calendar year.

From the ambient immersion of “Getting Into It” to the peak-time offering, “The Offering,” The Sheltered Planet is a transcendant if perhaps undeserved escape from today’s post-dignity world. Please buy at least two copies.

Martinou - The Sheltered Planet is OUT NOW on all platforms.

Two of Tiga’s very best friends come together for the very first time, as the one&only Seth Troxler makes his loooooong overdue debut on Turbo.

Audion (ie Matthew Dear) is no stranger to the label, putting out some of the most essential releases on the Turbo over the last couple decades.

Matt welcomes Seth into the Turbo folder in blistering style. Seth’s minimal house movements meets Audion’s crisp acid drippings, finding the perfect middle ground between their illustrious sounds.

Nikki Nair lands on TURBO

Nikki’s high-octane breakbeat and electro cuts have cut right through the fluff over the last few years, quickly launching him to become one of the most prolific producers and DJ’s of the modern age.

The Atlanta artist makes his Turbo debut with Dump Truck - an absolute bassline barn-stormer targeted straight at peak-time dancefloors.

OUT NOW as part of Turbo 25.

Toronto’s techno icon returns to Turbo. Kenny Glasgow has been a vital pillar in the Canadian electronic scene for 30+ years, pioneering a distinct sound on both the production and performance side. Through his work with Art Department, as well as his solo offerings over the years, Kenny’s trademark brand of techno has captured global plaudits for decades. Glasgow has carried the torch for the North American scene time & time again, and shows no sign of relenting.

Following his famed 2001 ‘Toronto Mix Session’ CD on Turbo, and his debut EP on the imprint ‘Mean Machine’ landing in 2020, we’re thrilled to welcome Kenny Glasgow back with the ‘Mind Under Control’ EP.

Leading the line is ‘Position Fatale’, a low-slung groover that harnesses an undeniable baseline hook and latin vocal work. Vintage drum programming balances floaty synthetic rhythms, showcasing the distinct nature of Kenny’s studio flow. ‘Loco Juice’ brings crisp production to a spoken-word foray, while ‘Planet’ takes us to higher planes with melodic . Across the trio, Glasgow commands influences both modern & timeless, providing an insight into an ever-explorative sound from a true legend of the global techno scene.
