Our Story
History of the Press The origins of DC Books can be traced back to John Sutherland’s Northern Review (itself springing from the merger of the magazines Preview and First Statement) through the intermediary presses Contact and Delta Canada. The press was founded by Louis Dudek and Aileen Collins in 1971. Editors & Staff The founding editor was Louis Dudek, a deeply respected poet, man of letters, and literary animator, who for many years, before his death in 2001, brought his talents and experience to bear upon the editing tasks at DC Books. The press was purchased from Dudek by Steve Luxton in 1986. Poet and Novelist Robert Allen served as editor of the New Writers Series during the 1990s until his untimely death in 2006. Our editors presently include Jason Camlot (poetry), David McGimpsey (fiction), Kenneth Radu, Dave Henderson (Railway and Transportation History), and Keith Henderson (Managing Editor). Additional Information DC Books are available through Fitzhenry & Whiteside, amazon.ca, and amazon.com In Europe and the U.K., DC Books are available through Gazelle. DC Books is a member of the Association of English Editors of Quebec and the Literary Press Group.
