It's bad enough what he put the families of the victims through now they will have to attend all his future Parole Hearings to say why he shouldn't get parole. He most likely won't get parole but he never should have had that right given the seriousness of his offences.

The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested a 57-year-old man, and seized several fi****ms following a firearm incident in Cocagne, N.B.

On January 16, 2023, at approximately 4 a.m., members of the Richibucto RCMP responded to a firearm complaint at a residence on Cocagne Cross Road in Cocagne, N.B.

When police arrived on scene, they discovered that an individual who had attempted to leave the property in their vehicle had been shot at from the residence, which struck the vehicle. No one was injured from the shot.

A perimeter was set up as a safety precaution. An individual remained in the residence and did not want to cooperate with police. Additional RCMP specialized policing services also attended the scene, including members of the RCMP Emergency Response Team and the RCMP Crisis Negotiation Team.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., negotiators were able to convince the man to exit the house. A 57-year-old man from the community was arrested without incident. He was later released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on May 12, 2023.

On January 17, 2023, members of the New Brunswick RCMP executed a search warrant at the residence in Cocagne. They seized several unauthorized fi****ms that were unsafely stored, as well as ammunition.

The investigation is ongoing.

A 43-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman from Moncton, N.B., have been charged following a drug investigation in the community.

In December 2022, the Codiac Regional RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit and the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (NBIEU) began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Moncton.

On January 11, 2023, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Waverly Avenue in Moncton, in connection with the investigation. During the search, police seized quantities of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, and amphetamine, as well as number of weapons, and money.

On January 12, a 43-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were both arrested at a residence in Moncton in connection with the investigation. The woman was later released.

On January 12, Daniel Troop appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
Possession for the purpose of trafficking amphetamine
Unsafe storage of fi****ms
Unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon
Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000
Fail to comply with release order

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on January 16.

This investigation was the result of a joint effort between the Codiac Regional RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU). The New Brunswick IEU is made up of members from the New Brunswick RCMP, as well as municipal police and Justice and Public Safety officers in the province. These efforts aim to improve the coordinated response to the growing concerns of drugs, fi****ms, and organized crime within New Brunswick.

The public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
The investigation is ongoing.
