Last night, Shazia received The Credits award for her contributions to Mississauga's cultural heritage. We also celebrated the 50th year of Mississauga with a throwback to the 70s!

We are super proud of our Founder- CEO, Shazia Javed , for having been selected by Heritage Mississauga (Mississauga Heritage Foundation) to receive this year's The Credits. The award honors Mississauga's 'heritage heroes' for their contributions to the city's heritage.

Congrats to all the other winners, including the team at Mississauga Arts Council !

The awards will be presented at a gala ceremony that also celebrates Mississauga's 50th year 🎉 So dress up in your best 70s-inspired outfit and come party with us!

Accepting the Best Drama Award for Potluck Ladies TV at SeriesFest !! 🎉🎉

Big thanks to the jury and the festival team for the honor! Thanks for celebrating with us this story of sisterhood and friendships and for letting us entertain and engage you.

Bringing this show to life as the ep- producer-director- writer has been the most rewarding experience. To be able to tell this story authentically and with the care it needed has been a privilege. It's been inspired by the stories of so many women and their support for each other, their lives, their joys and struggles, the stories of South Asian and immigrant women's life in its full glory. The stories that I then nurtured with imagination and craft and the support of my team. None of this would have been possible without the talented people who supported and brought my vision to life. Without their talent and hard work, this would all just be an idea. So thanks, team! This win is for all of us. 💛

We have a new team member! 🎉🎉

We are very pleased to welcome Naiyelli Romero Agüero to LifeSketch Media. Naiyelli joins as a Business Affairs Coordinator to support our growing slate of projects.

Naiyelli Romero Agüero (she/her) is a Venezuelan-Canadian producer and production manager based in the GTA. As a child she featured in “¡Qué Locura!”, a comedy show by Venevisión, one of Venezuela’s largest television networks.

After transitioning to behind the camera, Naiyelli completed her BFA in Film Studies at the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), where she received a variety of accolades for her work, including the Woman in Film Award and the Norman Jewison Filmmaker Award. She has continued to develop her skills by participating in workshops and mentorship programs, including WIFT-T’s Media Business Essentials Program from Humber College and the CMPA’s One Stop Business Workshops.

Her latest project, “Sara” directed by Jessica Hinkson won Best Canadian Short at the 2023 Silver Wave Film Festival. Her upcoming projects include Michelle D’Alessandro Hatt’s “Brave Rebel Army”, the second film in her feminist fantasy trilogy, as well as Alison Duke’s “Bam Bam: The Story of Sister Nancy”.
