CHARLES "THE PROFESSOR" WILTON
Charles Wilton has more than just a strong right-hand uppercut. He’s been fighting his whole life. Not just because he was abused while bouncing from foster home to foster home. Charles has had to fight to prove that he is mentally intelligent enough to be removed from the special-needs class. Charles has had to fight to retain custody of his 6-year-old able-bodied son while dealing with the demons of depression and su***de. Charles Wilton is a born fighter. Charles began his life on shaky ground. Born to drug-addicted parents, Charles was slotted into the foster care system. After many misdiagnoses and cases of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse he was officially diagnosed with Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy at the age of seven. Charles was adopted by his speech therapist who taught him how to speak. He began to go to school on a regular basis and developed a positive bond with his caretakers. During high school, Charles had to put on a mask to hide the trauma and anger of his early childhood. Being disabled didn’t stop him from attempting different sports. Charles had an opportunity to fight... but it became more than that. Charles, “felt free of the abuse,” when he set 3 world records in men’s Race Running, an Paralympic sport. The attention on the track was positive but also brought along some unwanted bullying. Charles got into some serious schoolyard fights. He began to use a ground and pound technique when he was picked on. This would bring his opponent to the ground where it became an equal fight. Charles was learning to fight back, and actually was getting pretty good at it.
