MARCH 4-22
"COLOUR TAKES FLIGHT”, an art exhibition by David Pacholko. Mission Arts Centre & home of the Mission Arts Council, 33529 1st Ave. For more information, visit www.missionartscouncil.ca or call 604-826-0029

🎨Opening Reception: March 8, 1-4pm.

The work in this exhibition is inspired by the wild birds that inhabit Pacholko’s backyard. David was guided by his intuition in creating these spontaneous works, in which he has attempted to recapture a moment with gestural black lines and swaths of colour, deconstructing the birds into swirling, fluttering impressions of movement, colour and light, thereby capturing their essence.

On a secluded Caribbean Island, free-spirited traveler Rory crosses paths with the sharp-witted and independent Evelyn, an aging woman determined to hold onto her autonomy. What begins as a chance encounter soon turns into an unconventional friendship—one that challenges generational divides and personal preconceptions.

But when Evelyn’s overbearing son and his family arrive, tensions rise, secrets surface, and the question lingers: what really makes paradise... paradise? With sharp humor, heartfelt moments, and a touch of the unknown, Welcome to Paradise is a captivating story of human connection, the meaning of home, and the risks we take to truly live.

Don't miss this warm, witty, and thought-provoking play that proves paradise isn’t always what it seems.

SUNFLOWER LODGE GRAND OPENING // We are thrilled about the grand opening of Sunflower Lodge BC, an innovative farm-to-table restaurant dedicated to sustainable, locally sourced cuisine. Guests had the opportunity to enjoy a taste of its ethically cultivated, seasonally inspired small bites.

Owners and chefs Chris and Rayne prioritize quality, nutrition, and ethical sourcing, using ingredients from their organic farm and the surrounding forests, rivers, and ocean.

“We are beyond excited to open our doors and invite the community to experience what Sunflower Lodge is all about,” said Rayne Beveridge, founder and head chef. “This event is a reflection of our passion for real food, real connections, and the bounty of the land and waters that surround us.”
