Congratulations to JC Sulzenko (writing as A. Garnett Weiss) on one of her centos being the winning poem in the Prince Edward County Arts Council Wind and Water Contest. JC is the author of Bricolage: A Gathering of Centos, from Ae**us House in 2021.
📣 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 📣
We were thrilled with the interest and caliber of submissions in the 5th anniversary edition of our annual Wind & Water Writing Contest. Since 2019, we’ve had a total of 163 entrants and 213 submissions. In 2023, we received the highest number of entries in Wind & Water history!
Without further ado, we present the 2023 Wind & Water Writing Contest Winners:
𝗙𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Winner: The Farmers’ Almanac (Fiction) - 𝗗𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿
What the judges had to say about the winning submission: “An atmospheric, tense read that seamlessly connects the building of literal and metaphorical storms, this is a well-crafted story that had us hooked from the very beginning.”
Honourable Mention: Haggler (Fiction) - 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵

Winner: For our many moods, there is nothing like a lantern - 𝗔. 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘀
