Happy December! We must be overdue for a book draw!

Please share what you are currently reading or something wonderful you read this year and are still thinking about. And also share which book (available from our online shop) you would choose if you won.

In the spirit of this season of giving, multiple participants will be randomly selected to receive their stated book of choice.
(Please check the comments next Tuesday to see if you have won—we are not able to contact you directly so will reply to the winner in a comment on December 10th.)

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season. Happy reading and writing!

We are pleased to announce the winners of our 17th annual national summer writing contests for all ages. Congratulations to the final prize winners and all those published. And a giant thanks to all those who shared their work with us, the librarians and teachers who shared this opportunity, and the families who supported us (and their loved ones) in this endeavour.

All packing is done for these three magnificent collections, and we have shipped all orders and prizes that contain three or more books (there was a delay in some being picked up because the couriers seem to be overwhelmed). Unfortunately, we have not found an alternate shipper for our smaller envelopes of 1 or 2 books. We are hopeful Canada Post will be back in operation any day now, and everything is ready to go as soon as they are. Thank you for your kind understanding.

Polar Expressions Publishing

We are a small Canadian publisher dedicated to the task of creating books showcasing the very best poems and short stories written by Canadians of varying backgrounds, ages, and occupations. We believe all Canadians should have an opportunity to share their work and see what their peers are thinking about. We want to provide that important venue so they are able to write about these things in a positive environment.

We run four competitive contests each year.

Open year-round, in spring, we announce our annual national poetry contest as well as our annual national short-story contest. These are both free contests aimed at writers of all ages (writing for an audience of their peers). Their purpose is to encourage Canadians of all ages to use writing as an outlet for expressing their thoughts and emotions.

In early September, we announce our annual national student writing contests for children and youth in kindergarten through grade twelve. Our intent is to provide a free yet valuable tool to educators to encourage their students and to inspire a lifelong enchantment with poetry and prose.
