Been a while since I did a promo mix for an event - especially one like this, where I had to feature a variety of songs from as many African countries as possible. Disclaimer: I didn't get to fit in as many as I would have wanted in one hour, but I did a damn thing, all things considered.
For this project, I took time to diversify the playlist so that it features a blend of mainstream and non-mainstream music. I also added some songs that I didn't know prior to making this mix but after sampling them, I thought they fit in well with the vibe. The point really was to just make a dope promo mix that's full of energy and surprises, and have fun with it - kind of what the plan is for this event!
I also challenged myself to improve my technical abilities by exploring the new feature in my transitions while also mixing in key. It took some time to get a hang of it, but it became enjoyable, mostly because most of the time it surprised me just how good the feature actually is. Took the mix and the experience to a whole new level, so I definitely see myself using this often.
