The difference? Drivers end the lives of over a million family members, friends, children, kids, mothers, fathers, parents, sons, daughters, etc. per year.

Psa for those with emotional support cyclists 99% of drivers hate you. Bikes on road should be illegal for a variety of reasons. But if you are going to chose to ride your bike on the street; for cars and trucks, please dont claim to follow the rules of the road then run a stopsign, filter too the front of trafic at intersection, unable to go speed limit impeding traffic. We didn't sign up to have to deal with cyclists, the road isn't a sidewalk.

Ben Durham:
The road is to be shared. Yes, you signed up to share the road when you started driving. It's on your driver's exam (which you should probably re-take by the sounds of it 🤦‍♂️)

So I like to think that the City of London, Ontario - Municipal Government, London Cycle Link, and the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario got together and said “hey, we should work with Ben Durham because he's into infrastructure and runs a video production company!”

Up until just a few years ago, "cycling" was misconstrued in many places as "hardcore, spandex-clad road bike racing"...

But ebikes swung in and made it "okay" to just get around on a comfortable, upright bicycle with storage racks... and replace many (or all) car trips with bike trips!

Skip that traffic, get that daily exercise, get better sleeps, save money, save the planet.

So yeah, get an ebike!

How To Quickly Calculate Per TB Cost for HDDs

Here's a how-to on something I do every Black Friday: calculate the per-unit cost of things vs paying more for less.

I go through a bunch of hard drives, so Black Friday is when I buy my HDDs in bulk.

Yes, sometimes I just wanna share tips on random things that aren't bike-related. I'm also A/B testing how this 1m15s video performs. Probably horribly for so many different reasons but hey, I just wanted to huck this out there to help someone.

Just got a call from an officer in The London Police Service's traffic department because of a complaint citing quite a few videos on my YouTube channel 🤣

We had a nice chat and I had answers to all of their questions.

And I made sure to ask her directly if it's okay to post license plate numbers in videos and she said "You don't need to blur license plates because they're visible to everyone in the public eye and nothing on your channel is illegal as far I can see. I just needed to call you so that I can say that I've talked with you about this complaint... which I'll now mark down here as 'talked with Ben'"

Super funny that I'm now getting calls from the police station because people are so nit-picky about a wee li'l person on a bicycle calling out dangerous drivers who drive large, dangerous vehicles (often while distracted).

It sounds funny but 10-20 pumps with a bike pump gets us from a low 25 PSI back up to the 32 PSI that's needed.

Haven't used an air compressor for years now.

And no, I'm not becoming a car-centric channel; we've just been doing seasonal maintenance and I've been wanting to share this info with people for ages.

Now that I'm posting daily, I FINALLY get to talk about things that aren't "good enough" or "too random" thought fragments for full, long-format videos.

It's been a very fun experience so far :)
