This is my friend Laura with her beau Cedric. I snapped this photo of them while practicing low-light photography in preparation for an upcoming event.

Laura is a wonderful human, and she also happens to have been somewhat cataclysmic in my pursuit of starting a photography business. I had my first paid freelance experience while doing what I love as a contributor for LondonFuse.

I used to have the mindset of "I enjoy doing this, so I don't need to be paid," but thanks to that experience, that eventually turned into "I love doing this, so I should do it as a career."

Over the past year, I've gone from taking photos of mostly food and products to photographing people. This is a whole new ball game, with posing, prompts, catching little details, different angles, and focal points. On top of that, there is styling, setting the scene, working with lighting conditions and weather, plus so much more. It's a lot to learn, but I'm enjoying it, and I'm looking forward to seeing my growth over time.
