The tabla players in this video are my senior students—dedicated artists in the making, embodying the Toronto Tabla Ensemble’s mission to blend tradition with innovation. This performance features choreography by Charlotte Moraga, a senior student of my late brother, the legendary Chitresh Das, and percussion by Nilan Chaudhuri, son of Tabla Maestro Swapan Chaudhuri. The music, composed by me, Ritesh Das, is a testament to the richness of my family’s artistic legacy.
Rooted in Kolkata’s iconic Nritya Bharati school, founded by my parents, my brother and I have carried this legacy across borders. Today, through TTE, I mentor students to not only master tabla but also explore composition, performance, and community connection.

"Meet Boyce Jeffries: Percussionist, Educator, and Dedicated Tabla Student 🎶"
"Boyce Jeffries is a classical-contemporary percussionist based near Houston, Texas, who has been an integral part of the Toronto Tabla Ensemble since 2017. While pursuing his doctoral studies in Percussion Performance at the University of Toronto, Boyce began studying tabla with Ritesh Das and quickly joined TTE as a performing member. With expertise across percussion instruments—from vibraphone and marimba to cajon and drumset—Boyce transcribes and arranges TTE’s compositions, bridging North Indian rhythms with Western Classical music. As a faculty member at Sam Houston State University and a teacher of online Beginning Tabla classes for TTE, Boyce is honored to bring this rhythmic fusion to life."

Professionally, Marco is a research mathematician at the University of Toronto, specializing in geometry and physics.
