Tour my studio!

My home recording setup has changed a few times over the years- starting with a ridiculous-looking (but effective!) blanket fort! But as of two years ago, I now have a permanent, custom-built booth to work in.

Finally!

The audiobook I’ve been working on, Sister Lost, is available now on Audible!

I don’t do many audiobooks but oddly enough this project almost landed in my lap thanks to- social media and LinkedIn!

Our wonderfully talented author, Heather Hancock - Author connected with our equally talented producer, Henry Willard - Audio Engineer before I was even a thought in their mind! Eventually, they decided to go ahead with producing this audiobook together.

Henry and I connected on Instagram at least a year ago, and I admired his amazing home studio from afar!

Then, sometime this summer, I received an email from him, looking for Canadian narrators and would I be interested in auditioning for this book? I said, “sure!”

And the rest is history.

This book is not only a great story but also gives us a look into how the disabled were treated here in Canada, not that many years ago. I’ve not only learned a lot by narrating it but also from Heather herself.

Thanks to both of them for holding my hand through this process and helping me find the voices for each character.

I have, but it took a little more time than I anticipated.

It's been a little more than two years since I quit my full-time radio gig and began working for myself!

Granted, not everyone has the luxury of making that decision for themselves; some are thrust into a career change involuntarily. Regardless of your situation, perhaps these tips will help you in your transition- whether that's now or later.

This is the direct marketing email you WISH you could write!

We all know this.

This isn't a typical blog post for me. We had a family emergency this Winter which took the wind out of my sails: My husband ended up in the hospital for almost a month, while I tried to care for him, our girls, myself and my voiceover business!
