What is your 'Why'?

This is something I ask our clients before we begin capturing videos/photos.

It's important for us to understand this going into the field.

If we don't 'get it', we won't be able to show it.

In this case, part of our clients 'Why' is making sure their employees are able to have a life outside of work.

That means being home on time for dinner with their family.

This is not a staged photo.

It's the little details that make a great photo.

I couldn't be more stoked with it 👌

Share your Mission, Purpose and Values!

Purpose: You will attract clients and recruits who align with who you and what you stand for!

I know someone who went from one industry to a totally different industry, not having any background in the new industry, but purely joined the team because he wanted to be a part of that culture.

Your clients will also be drawn to values that align with yours! People like doing business with people they like!

Culture is powerful.

Don't underestimate it! Show it, share it and keep banging the same drum...people may think you're crazy, but it works!

Showcase your Projects!

Purpose: You get to proudly show off the work that you're able to carry out!

With every project you work on, create the journey and tell the story.

Share the beginning, share the challenges along the way, share the completed project.

Be transparent! Don't be afraid to show problems that happened...It keeps it real and authentic!

When you share your projects:
- your clients get to see updates!
- your future clients get to see the quality of work you do!
- your future recruits get to see what kind of work you do!

If you own a business in the construction industry and you're wondering about what to post and why, the next few posts can give you some ideas!

Idea #1: Celebrate your people:

Purpose: This small act can contribute towards your employees feeling appreciated for the work they do.

A lot of blue-collar folks take pride in the work that they do.

Celebrate them and show their work!

Celebrating your people is also attractive to those who work at companies where they don't feel appreciated.

If they consistently see that you have a culture of 'People First', there is a good chance they like what they see!

They may walk through your door asking for a job!

DELEGATION vs ABDICATION

Many people think they delegate tasks well.

Unfortunately, they've fallen into the trap of abdication.

We think we lead by example, and therefore THINK that people learn from seeing, and as a result we can successfully hand off our task to the next person.
Right?

Wrong.

That's called Abdication.

Simply showing someone how to do something is not an effective way to hand off more responsibility. That's a sure way to set them up for failure.

So what are the proper steps to delegation?

1. You watch me do the task, and I’ll explain what I’m doing.
2. You do the task and I’ll watch while you explain to me what you’re doing.
3. We’ll complete the task together.
4. You do the task and come to me if you have questions.

This process allows a semi-productive team to become a powerhouse within your company! It also creates a pipeline of great workers, who understand your company and want to help it succeed!

Then what?

Let the relationship grow.

People relate more to emotions than a product/service.

And after some time, you may find yourself being a part of their story.

While this great industry does indeed require hard work, grit, perseverence and determination, the tide is turning.

Next Generation Trades EXPO!

We're excited to be partnering with Canadian National Trades as part of this years annual Trades Expo!

This event has been running for the past 10 years and has been a great way for students (and the general public) to connect with the Trades and get their hands on tools and building materials.

Last year saw 2600+ people come through the doors, many of which were students, looking for career options! We reach out to and invite students from the districts of Chilliwack all the way to North Vancouver!

We still have some spaces open for exhibition. If you are a company that values your employees and wants to build into the next generation dubbed 'GEN Z - The Toolbelt Generation', then this event is for you!

For this event to be successful, our exhibitors are encouraged to have the mindset:

Spittin' wood chips...nothing more satisfying!
We like to include forestry as part of construction...

Why?

Because forestry is an integral part of the construction industry. Without it, we have no construction. Think of the many wood products that are used in the industry and how we'd be pretty screwed without them!
