Our Story

ARTSHELF: Just inside Lake Country Art Gallery is a 2nd hand art book store and reading room. A great new resource full of second hand art books and journals for reference and purchase. Books are donated to the gallery and fund from sales help support Gallery exhibitions & programs

GALLERY: The Lake Country Art Gallery informs and builds community through enriching and sometimes challenging exhibitions. It offers diverse and inclusive programming and gives space to artists in varied artistic practices. It is accessible, engages the local community and beyond, and fulfils its role with a strong, contemporary voice.

HISTORY: The Lake Country Art Gallery is a public art gallery located in Lake Country, British Columbia. Incorporated in 1995, this 20-year-old municipality has become one of the fastest growing in BC’s interior. In order to ensure the healthy development of an Arts and Culture sector within this young municipality, a public art gallery was established, opening on January 22, 2010. Located on the main street near the library, municipal buildings, memorial hall and high school the Gallery occupies one building that is shared with an independently run café. In an adjacent building to the east of the gallery, a workshop plus four artist’s studios make up the ArtHouse. Surrounding this, ample outdoor space provides opportunity for further community events and activities.

ART HOUSE: right next door to the gallery we have workshop space with classes available for arts education for all ages and abilities. Or you can rent workshop to run your own class - a great way for artists and professionals to add to their revenue stream through teaching. Outdoor areas are available for events and an annual evening picnic takes place each August.
