Fisherman's Wharf Talk

Fisherman's Wharf Talk "Welcome to Ladysmith Fisherman's Wharf Talk! Showcasing our marina as a hub for fishing, boating, and community. In 2018 I retired from commercial fishing.

Backed by 20 years managing the dock, 50+ years in fishing, and a lifetime living here. Join the conversation or visit our group for more!" Ladysmith Harbor is centrally located on the east coast of Vancouver Island just south of Nanaimo and the Nanaimo Airport. Fisherman's Wharf Talk has morphed from a page that was started to provide useful information and promote the local fisherman's wharf to

a page that aims to share information and offer helpful advice to all marine and harbor users. My name is Ken Bryski and I have lived and worked on the waters of BC since 1953. Since July of 2005 my wife Cheryl and I have managed the Ladysmith Fisherman's Wharf. Cheryl has managed the day to day operation of the marina while I was able to enjoy my fun life as a commercial fisherman. My brother Pete, who fished with me for many years when we were younger has also recently retired. Between the three of us we have over 180 years of coastal marine experience. Through this page the three of us will be happy to help you get the safest and most enjoyable experience you can while enjoying and transiting our waters.

Make sure that you are checking your boat often, especially this time of year when there's lots of rain. The Miss Kelly was once a beautiful west coast salmon troller.

The salmon license was sold in one of the buyback programs and the boat was sold to someone who originally had good but misguided intentions. He spent quite a bit of money on it and had it looking pretty spiffy.

But that was as far as he got and the boat remained tied to the dock until this happened. Unfortunately, I've seen this happen many times over the past 20 years. The boat was demolished.
