Well, work takes away from hobbies and lately there's been a lot of work. However my hockey season is almost done which means I will have more time for the podcast.

Today I emailed the Medicine Hat Police about a 1989 Cold Case concerning Michael Masson, a man found in a shallow grave just outside of the city. There hasn't been any arrests nor public mention of this case that I can find since at least 1990.

So, hopefully they can provide something for me to work with.

Well, it appears that the episode for the Dark Stranger aka Earle Nelson is cursed, I have decided that we will move forward with a new subject.

What subject may that be? The disappearance of Canada's version of Al Capone, his name was Rocco Perri.

To get the full story of Rocco and his crimes I HIGHLY recommend this book by Trevor Cole. The research and efforts put into the book is incredible.

Our episode however will not be a lengthy one as Rocco had a very long very colorful life. Our focus will be on his sudden disappearance.

It's almost like he took a long walk off of a short pier....

The frustration is real.

Again another attempt today to record part two of the Dark Strangler episode and again issues with Spotify. This time it keeps cutting off my recording time about half way through.

I've contacted them and again no help. I may have to change platforms or perhaps find smaller cases to discuss.

This is disheartening because a lot of research goes into these cases and I would like to tell the full story to the best of my abilities.

It must take a different type of person than myself to stomach the idea of a "Last Meal". The concept of it is both fascinating and terrifying.

Today I read through a fairly extensive list of "Last Meals" issued by the American Prison System. Some are creative such as " a single unpitted black olive" as requested by Robert Buell or "pheasant" requested by John Deering before facing the ex*****on squad in Utah.

Others are startlingly similar such as the global requests for KFC as a final meal! I don't believe I could come up with a final meal if it was truly my final moments alive. The pressure would be too great.

What would you request for a final meal? Would it be minestrone soup? Beef & barley soup?

While the battle with uploading part two of The Dark Strangler continues (😤).

Two historical based true crime comics have arrived in the kitchen! Both of these cases took place in the Crowsnest Pass of Alberta.

The Shooting of Constable Larson is about a prohibition era booze Baron and Baroness who cross paths with the law and are eventually executed in Fort Saskatchewan for their crimes.

The Shoot-Out at the Bellevue Cafe is a tale connected to an armed train robbery which does eventually become an international affair with the American Police becoming involved!

Both cases will make it into their own episodes in the near future.

A slight change in plans. The story of Earle Leonard Nelson will be a two episode show. To say I dove in headfirst on his backstory would be an understatement.

This case largely deals with mental health, pious religious actions and medical inactions which gave birth to a monster by actions but also a mistreated and undiagnosed child without hope.
