1. Experience That Brings People Together
With a Doctor of Social Work, a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education, and extensive experience in social work, mental health, education, leadership, and community engagement, I bring a broad understanding of the challenges facing students, families, and communities.

2. Students Come First
My priorities are clear: student well-being and academic achievement. I believe students deserve to feel safe, supported, respected, included, and empowered while receiving the strong education they need to succeed.

3. A Proven Commitment to Community
My commitment to serving others did not begin with an election campaign. For decades, I have been involved in community work, supporting individuals and families, building partnerships, mentoring others, and advocating for people who need a voice. I am ready to bring that same commitment to the WRDSB Board table.

I am deeply honoured and grateful to receive the Faculty of Education Distinguished Graduate Award from Brock University.

As a two-time Brock graduate, this recognition is especially meaningful to me. I have always believed that education extends far beyond the classroom—it is about empowering people, challenging barriers, creating opportunities, and making a positive difference in our communities.

My journey through education, social services, mental health, research, mentorship and community advocacy has been guided by a commitment to helping others. I am humbled that this work has been recognized by an institution that has played such an important role in my own journey.

I accept this award with sincere gratitude and renewed commitment to continue learning, serving, and creating opportunities for others.

A Milestone I Will Always Cherish

I am deeply honoured and humbled to be recognised with the Faculty of Education Distinguished Graduate Award from Brock University.

As a two-time Brock graduate — ADEC ’14 and BEd ’21 — this recognition holds a very special place in my heart. My educational journey at Brock has never been simply about earning degrees. It has been about gaining knowledge, developing as a leader, and finding meaningful ways to use what I have learned to make a difference in the lives of others.

For me, education extends well beyond the classroom. Through my work in social services, mental health, research, mentorship, adult education, and community advocacy, I have had the privilege of sharing knowledge, supporting individuals and families, challenging barriers, and creating opportunities for others.

I have always believed that education should empower people — to discover their strengths, overcome obstacles, find their voice, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Receiving this award is therefore not only a personal honour; it is a reflection of the importance I place on lifelong learning, service, leadership, and giving back.

I am profoundly grateful to Brock University’s Faculty of Education for this prestigious recognition and for being such an important part of my educational journey.

This award inspires me to continue learning, continue serving, continue mentoring, and continue creating opportunities for others.
