Simple pleasures!
Last weekend was a birthday weekend for our youngest and this week is thanksgiving. So much to be thankful for. But there were a couple of interactions that I sat quietly and enjoyed.
The first was watching our 3 adult children say goodbye to each other. With “I love you’s” and parting humorous shots. Did my heart good! Love is everywhere!
The second was watching our eldest son and D-I-L walk to their car where he opened the door for her, waited until she was seated and then closing it.
I always said “if chivalry dies it dies with me”! I am pleased to see it won’t.
Love you all, you make me proud everyday!

It’s with a great sadness that I was informed that Hamilton radio station CHML 900, the station where my father developed his career in radio, stopped broadcasting yesterday. Started in 1927, the station was a classic example of community radio.

It was also a farm team station that produced many on air personalities such as Paul Hanover, Jane Gray, Lorne Green, John Hardy, Joe Cannon Gordy Tapp, and my father Paul Reid, amongst others.

As radio dies with shriveling revenues, I can’t help but wonder where we are going without small mom and pop community entities that can inform, influence and hold people in government to account when the need arises.

I know my folks would be sad and shocked today. Part of my childhood has disappeared and my belief that radio is a cornerstone of where you live has once again been shaken.

Hamilton is poorer today!
RIP CHML 900-97 years of excellence in broadcasting!

After a very intense week at the Hudson Film Festival (with Ben’s Screening Room) and the very first Hudson Animation and Short Film Festival, I am pleasantly exhausted and “filmed out”.
Special thanks to Phil Hamilton, Don Mahon and Bill Douek for technical and content assists. A special shout out to all of the festival volunteers who made everything happen.
We broke ground on a new festival, broke some attendance records and saw many amazing things!
BRAVO!
Excuse me now while I sleep for a week !

We are not big new year fans. 2023 pretty much sucked for me albeit with sporadic flashes of brilliance and friendship. All in all, my hopes for 2024 are modest and I hope everyone stays healthy and strong.

Since 1975 the Becket Players have entertained thousands of people and made a lot of money for kids. This year's show is its swan song. I performed in Cabaret (22 years), assistant directed(10 shows), produced & directed (7 shows) and watched all but the first years show. I served on the Board of Governors for 5 years with the PR and Marketing portfolio. My kids all volunteered/performed in it. My wife Barb produced and directed (6 shows). My brother Rob was a guitarist, band director, producer/director and eventually President of the board for several years. You could say it was a real Reid Family thing. I am proud of what we contributed. Since I left in 2002, I have continued to support them as a community cause for good and I have crafted their TV PSA's. This one is not only the final one but it happens to be the final edit that my company, KEMEdia makes as the company closes down next week after 40 years of video and sound production. So it is a bittersweet video on two counts. Congratulations to the Becket Players "Way Off Broadway" and Cabaret shows. Community service and volunteerism at its finest. Thanks for the Memories! Bravo!
