On this episode, we're chatting with Mouraine, a Sudan-born hip hop and rap artist based in Edmonton, Alberta. We get to know the man behind the music, discussing a bit about his life journey, career ups and downs, and what inspired his latest album, In Search of Gold. From chasing possessions to finding purpose, peace, and happiness.

As a first-generation immigrant to Canada, Mouraine learned to speak English through his love of music. By the age of 11, he was already writing, recording, and performing original music, which led him to share stages with the likes of Mac Miller, J.Cole, and T-Pain. Mouraine is quickly emerging into the limelight with his magnetic energy and talent for self-expression, and he just released his debut album, In Search of Gold, a metaphorical representation of his life journey.

Folk Rock artist Sarah Burton joins the show to discuss her track "I Hate Goodbyes"!

I Hate Goodbyes is a love song, written after the decision to embark in a long-distance relationship with another touring musician. The song was written in the hopeful space of falling in love and feeling like the world will conspire to help you. The subsequent album explores the challenges that come with long-distance love. Recorded amidst the Canadian winter lockdown, the distance was made so much more, well - distant - due to the circumstances of the world, which in fact seemed to conspire against this love.

Burton’s writing style on this album ranges from classic 90s pop-rock to a more current indie rock, with a little throw-back to the 60s, laced with a touch of the bizarre. Recorded and produced by power-pop-rocker Dany La 64 Magic Queen’s is an unfiltered trip through a brain that is hopeful even in the darkest hours. Laj’s melodic guitar lines complement the songs with grace, walking the line between glossy and gritty, much like Burton’s vocal stylings.

Country music artist & producer Dan Davidson joins the show to discuss his new single “Girl Drinks Beer”!

With over 20 million worldwide streams, Alberta born artist Dan Davidson has created undeniable momentum. His latest single “Girl Drinks Beer” featuring Travis Collins and Australian tour cap off a banner year. His early 2022 EP 6 Songs to Midnight marked a pivotal moment of his career, with the EP debuting at #1 on the iTunes sales chart in Canada, Davidson took his new collection of music on a European tour, and returned home to a CCMA nomination for Record Producer of the Year.

Dan Davidson exploded onto the Canadian country scene in 2016 when the release of his second single "Found" (co-written by Clayton Bellamy of The Road Hammers & recently certified Platinum.
