I moved to British Columbia from Ontario three years ago and have since driven and walked over 100,000 km. The beauty of this province is breathtaking; the mountains are enormous, and you truly need to hike to their summits to appreciate their grandeur.
On May 19, 2024, I set off on a solo adventure to Jasper, Alberta, starting with Mount Robson National Park. The sight of that mountain gave me goosebumps—I was completely in awe. Unfortunately, rain forced me to turn back from my hike, so I continued my journey to Jasper.
An hour later, I arrived at Jasper City Centre, where tourists outnumbered residents. Families, couples, and children were out enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, and their energy was contagious. I had dinner, explored shops, drove to see the Planetarium, filled up at Petro Canada, and grabbed coffee at Lostlands Cafe. I also wandered around the Pyramid Mountains and saw the Two Brothers Totem Pole and a corn statue. I fell in love with Jasper.
As night fell, I needed to find a place to sleep. A seasoned car camper, I decided to head to Hinton for a nice camping spot. The speed limit of 70 km/h through the park is enforced, allowing me to take in the incredible wildlife along the highway—those elk had the fluffiest behinds! It was the perfect first day of my trip. I ordered pizza in Hinton and found an ideal backcountry campsite, feeling completely content.
The next morning, I woke to light rain and thought, “If the clouds hide the view, I can always come back.” Little did I know, a wildfire on July 22, 2024, would change everything I hoped to revisit.

So I may or may not have fan girled a little when I met @siren_uk this past @wickedwoodsmusicfestival. I made sure we had the cutest tea set for you to warm up when you arrived in the chilly Canadian Mountains, held a light while you used our Grade A festival bathroom 😉 and danced harder then I ever have to DNB (I’m actually a house head).
