The Facebook Marketplace frauds have increased their complexity!

Fraudsters now create a fictitious FB profile in a given local community and use a local address and photos to look local. They then post an item for sale with a great but feasible price. They then demand an E-transfer to hold the item for you and as it is someone in your own neighbourhood, you go for it. Not good as your money is gone!
BUYERS BEWARE and report each scam to FB!

Privacy Rights of Shared DNA
I am wondering what my legally trained colleagues think of an idea I floated several years ago, pertaining to the privacy of your DNA.

I suggested that the police take all suspect DNA samples obtained from violent crime scenes and submit them to Ancestry.ca under the name of Joe Suspect. Once they get the results back they will have identified all of the relatives of their suspect! They will know his/her distant cousins and perhaps even closer family members. They have then narrowed down their list of suspects! I bring this up again because I personally am a member and supporter of Ancestry and have identified several hundred relatives of my own. Just this morning I received a notice of a newly identified cousin.

So.... this makes me wonder about how the courts might view the privacy rights of shared DNA. How would we even thinking of protecting the rights of a suspect to keep his/her DNA private when their relatives are voluntarily submitting their DNA to various genealogy sites at an accelerated rate. From a policing perspective, this might give DNA samples a whole new value!

10 Years Later - Does anyone see the resemblance to our last financial crisis? As housing prices soar and we wonder who is affording mortgages for what seem to be ridiculous prices, I can not help but worry about how the Covid crisis might affect the ability to pay for high priced homes. If mortgages default could we see a collapse? What have we learned?

The paper contains a perspective on the cause and effect of the “Financial Crisis” from a law enforcement point of view. While the financial crisis may not have

20 years have past and I looked back on what I considered to be an awesome innovative idea I tried to get going across the globe. My premise was that Victims of crime do not care about their privacy. They are often willing to rent advertising space to share the details of their loss - anything to help catch the SOB who ripped them off! Anyhow, I look back at this effort and am saddened I was not able to complete the job.
