Saddened to hear of Tony Todd's passing. I'm honoured to have met such a cool dude. This is a video clip from Shock Stock 2015, when he very willingly agreed to participate in this silly little bit for Jay Winger's YouTube channel. We casually inquired if he'd smash a VHS copy of Titanic, and he took it to a whole other level with this completely improvised performance. No questions asked, he just jumped right into it on the spot. It's funny how the clip ends with Pepper and Orbax mourning loudly, as it accurately captures the mood I'm sure we're all feeling at the moment. If only we could say his name the times into a mirror and make him appear again. The world lost a good one here, and he will be missed.

One more sleep until the local premiere of 2025: Steel City Warriors! I've always included my mom and dad in the special thanks section of every credit reel, because they've been an endless source of support in my lifelong obsession with cinema. Hell, they're the ones who got me into watching movies in the first place. This film, in particular, is dedicated to my mom because she actually accompanied me on a lot of the location scouting and second unit shoots. Unfortunately, she passed away last summer and didn't get to see what became of this project. Part of the reason I completed and released Steel City Warriors was because I felt I owed it to her to do something with the footage. It will be screening tomorrow (Thursday, October 24th) at 9:30 PM as part of the Hamilton Film Festival's Out Of The Box showcase. The second vignette in 2025: Steel City Warriors was produced as an assignment while I was enrolled in the Multimedia program at McMaster University. There is use of abstract imagery, as well as data bending for special visual effects and aesthetics. The audio for this segment features use of surface transducers, contact mics, induction coils and EMF recording. Additive sound synthesis with pure frequencies was also incorporated, as well as white noise. The hometown premiere is in TWO DAYS at the Hamilton Film Festival. Screening starts at 9:30 PM sharp. For 2025: Steel City Warriors, I chose to present it with a shot-on-video aesthetic to reflect the way I'd viewed most of the old Mad Max/Escape from New York knock-offs which had inspired the project. Not only was this to create a sense of nostalgia, I also wanted to give it the look of a forgotten media relic which had seemingly attempted to predict the not-too-distant future.The local premiere is only a few days away! At last night's red carpet gala for the Hamilton Film Festival! I've had numerous films screened here in the past, but this is the first time I've been able to attend the opening night event. Unfortunately, I've been fighting off whatever bug has been going around and couldn't stay for the rest of the evening. I wish my fellow submitters the best of luck with their screenings tonight, though. Thanks to Timber for snapping this shot and tagging along with me.

When 2025: Still City Warriors was conceived during the early 2010's, parts of Hamilton, Ontario (aka Steel City) very much resembled a post-apocalyptic wasteland. In recent years, the city has been undergoing a process of gentrification, which has seen many low-income residents displaced from their homes due to a lack of affordable housing. The situation has become increasingly reflective of a dystopian narrative, and it seemed like the perfect time to revisit and release this project.
