After a 20-year hiatus, I am running for office again.

Since my successful run for city council in Denmark in 2005, I have gained a whole lot more professional and life experience, which I will put to good use in fighting for my neighbours from all across Hamilton East-Stoney Creek at Queen’s Park.

The next step in the journey to formally become a candidate in the upcoming provincial election is a nomination meeting at the Stoney Creek Legion (Branch 622) on January 23, 2025. I hope to see you there!

Thank you to Hamilton-based Pakistan Canada Business Organization for inviting me to attend and speak at today’s PCBO Annual Holiday Gathering and Quaid e Azam Birthday Celebrations at the new Karahi Point Restaurant in Stoney Creek. Fun Yalda celebration at the Grand Olympia with Iranian Cultural & Social Association of Hamilton tonight!

Yalda, meaning “birth” in Persian, symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness. In ancient Persian mythology, it is believed that the god of light and truth was born at dawn following the longest night of the year, bringing renewal and hope to the world.

Just like any other ICSAH party, this was quite a party. Thanks for a great night to everyone involved with planning and executing the event. It was a ton of fun.

Good luck to all the runners in the Hamilton Santa Race! I was at Pier 7 to cheer on my kids, running the 1k, and my partner, running the 5k. Great event. Well done!

Also, I ran into always cheerful Councillor Esther Pauls. The Santa outfit suits you, Esther!

I’ve made so many good memories in section 112 at Tim Horton’s Field over the past few years, being invited to Forge FC matches by friends. Now, it’s time for me to take the plunge and get my own Forge FC season ticket. Along with the ticket, I got a free jersey (jersey deal is on until December 20). Can’t wait for soccer to be back!

Fun family outing to the 1st Winona Scouting “Breakfast with Santa” at Fifty United Church in Winona, ON. The pancakes were delicious and the scouts’ customer service was impeccably. Belly full of pancakes, we also stopped by Winona Gardens for a fiery red poinsettia.

Great holiday social hosted by Hamilton East-Stoney Creek Ontario Liberal Party at the Powerhouse today. Good to catch up with old friends and new acquaintances. The team is growing. And we are election ready. Bring it on!

Excellent holiday lunch with fellow board members and all the fantastic staff at Immigrants Working Centre.

The employees at IWC do amazing work to help integrate refugees and immigrants and to get them into the job market. This gets folks off to a good start in Canada, builds community here in Hamilton and helps support the Canadian economy.

It was good to see the hardworking folks at IWC take a break and enjoy some well-deserved quality time together. It was an absolute pleasure to be there for it all. Happy holidays!

About two weeks ago, Paramount Fine Foods on Upper James was subject to a horrible racist and Islamophobic incident. Today, the community came together at Paramount to support Basil and his staff, and to send a signal that racism has no home in Hamilton. A safe community for all is a better community for all.
