Great Liberal social at Townhall Social Eatery tonight!
Family guy. Danish. Canadian. Solrød raised. Hamilton is home! Opinions expressed are my own.
Great Liberal social at Townhall Social Eatery tonight!
Hamilton’s Forge FC is at the top of the table in the Canadian Premier League, so of course I had to sport some Forge swag on my August trip to Scandinavia. Here is a fairly small selection of photographic evidence 😎
Photos 1-2: Hallgrim’s Church, Reykjavik, Iceland.
Photos 3-4: Kronborg Castle, Denmark (yes, the one from Hamlet).
Photos 5-6: Växjö Cathedral, Småland, Sweden.
Photos 7-8: Gullfoss, Iceland.
Photos 9-10: Thingvellir National Park, Iceland.
Tough loss for Hamilton’s Forge FC in the Canadian Championship tonight, but great atmosphere and a good time. Beautiful night for live soccer.
Also, my buddy (last photo below - Forge and TFC fan) came back to the hammer 50% happy about the games outcome. Good for you James 😒😛

While in Denmark, I got to catch 3 matches with the home team of my early youth, HB Køge.
One of the absolute highlights was watching the HB Køge Women start off the season with a 3-0 victory, with Canadian Emma Regan among the goal scorers. Both Canadians on the team, Emma Regan and Samantha Chang, kindly made time for a brief chat and a photo after the game.
All the best with the rest of the season! 🦢💙🖤

- Capelli Sport Stadium (Køge). HBK Men 2-0 loss.

Back in town after some time away. It is great to be back in Hamilton. I look forward to reconnecting with everyone. First, however, I am reconnecting with the escarpment stairs :) Have a nice day, folks!
💯
We need to put teachers, early childhood educators, special-ed teachers, support staff, and students first.
I was honoured to join Elementary Educators earlier this week to talk about the importance of completing the repair backlog, building new schools, cutting class sizes, and ensuring our kids and teachers have the resources they need to succeed.
2 weeks out! See you there 😎
Our next casual social for Hamilton-area Liberals + friends is coming up later this month.

Happy Pride Hamilton! I am sad that I missed the festivities yesterday!
This past Monday, the last day of a trip to Iceland, I got to participate in the opening event for Reykjavik Pride. Pretty cool experience. The boys, my partner and I enjoyed meeting new people, painting the street and cooling down with rainbow popsicles. A memory we’ll cherish for years!
Where ever you are in the world, keep the spirit of Pride high 🥳🏳️🌈
I made it by Festival of Friends tonight, caught some WAR and Mikey's Cream Pies. Not a bad way to end a Friday night.
Tough night for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but a nice evening for some football!
Emancipation Day at City Hall today!
August 1st marks Emancipation Day in Ontario and Canada. It is the day that the Slavery Abolition Act came into effect across the British Empire.
Thank you to Afro Canadian Caribbean Association Hamilton for hosting a great event and to all the speakers talking to the history, present and future of emancipation.
Our friends at the Hamilton Mountain Federal Liberal Association hosted an evening with Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development of Canada Mary Ng at EM OI Restaurant today. Good food. Great company. Fun evening.

A few more shots from a great night at Tim Horton’s Field last night. Solid 3-0 win for Forge Football Club vs. HFX Wanderers FC.

The boys and I went down to the 2024 Fiesta Extravaganza at Bayfront Park today. Great event. A ton of fun, sweet tunes and delicious foods.
Yesterday, a good friend invited me down to Tim Horton’s Field for Forge Football Club vs Halifax Wanderers. When I got to my seat in section 112, I found a big rainbow flag placed in my spot. I know inclusiveness is a key value of the Barton Battalion (the Forge fan group located in section 112), so I was very excited for the responsibility to fly the rainbow flag high during the game.
Ever since my first Forge FC match a few years ago, I remember seeing the Barton Battalion flying the rainbow flag. It has always been an uplifting sight. Despite much progress, it is not a given that Canadian sports venues are a safe space for our LGBTQ2SIA+ friends. Throughout the years, I’ve played sports with openly gay friends, who have been comfortable being themselves in all aspects of their lives except on the field as their lived experience has proved it to potentially be unsafe. There is still much work to be done to ensure sports are for everyone, and the Barton Battalion is doing that work. I am proud to call myself a fan of a team that has such an inclusive and friendly fan base!
During yesterday’s game, as I was flying the rainbow flag in the stands, a man approached me with a good portion of frustration to say I was creating division by flying the rainbow flag. He was clearly not aware of the importance of the symbol and the values of the Barton Battalion. His disdain for the rainbow flag suddenly made it an unsettling space, but the Barton Battalion rallied together and made it very clear that Tim Horton’s Field and, especially, section 112 is all about inclusiveness. Soccer should be a safe space for everyone, and it was uplifting to experience the rallying around that value first hand. Thank you, Barton Battalion!

Great evening at the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Business After Business event at the The Art Gallery of Hamilton! Always good catching up with old acquaintances and meeting new ones.
Ice coffee, good company and live music. Not a bad way to spend a lazy summer Tuesday evening over at Lukaya Cafe! If you haven’t been to open mic night at Lukaya Cafe, make plans to do so sometime. It’s great, cozy fun!
Tough evening for the Hamilton Cardinals at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium. Down 6-0 to Guelph Royals after the bottom of the 8th. But, beautiful summer evening for live baseball!

Sidewalk Sounds over at Concession BIA tonight. I stopped by briefly, caught some cool tunes and snapped these photos.
Great morning down at LIUNA Station for the 10th annual Luso Canadian Charitable Society Volta. It was a hoooot one, but a fun one. Junior had a blast during the walk, with the face paint, all the motorcycles, etc.
Go follow on Instagram and join next year!
Santa Claus parade and food drive in the Sunninghill neighbourhood today. Merry July Christmas 🤣😎 Stay cool out there, folks.
Wow! Shock start by Forge Football Club vs Toronto FC. Up 2-0 early in the first leg of the semis of the Canadian Championship. Love it! Neatless to say, the atmosphere in section 112 is quite something!!

Not the outcome we hoped for at tonight’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats game. But, live football and good company never fails!

The boys and I went down for Hamilton Regional Indian Centre’s inaugural annual powwow and Pier 4 Park. Great atmosphere, great weather, great day!
I went on a lunch stroll past Queen’s Park today and bumped into the flag raising ceremony in celebration of CARICOM’s 51st anniversary, and got to briefly catch up with esteemed MPP Andrea Hazell (Ontario Liberal Party).
The first Monday in July each year is recognized as “CARICOM Day” in many Caribbean countries as it marks the anniversary of the establishment of the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM). 2024 marks the 51st anniversary of the organization, established on July 4, 1973.
Ontario’s Liberals have always been builders, and we will form a housing plan that works for you, so the next generation has the same shot at the Ontario dream of homeownership as their parents and grandparents.

December 24, 2023, the Pakistan Canada Business Organization (@pcbo11) held its annual members holiday event and celebration of the birthday of Pakistan’s founder. Due to my volunteering on the board of directors of Immigrants Working Centre Hamilton (@iwchamilton), I was lucky to get invited to celebrate with PCBO, its members and Pakistan’s Consul General. PCBO, thank you for the invitation and your positive contribution to the community! Here’s brief conversation I had with PCBO’s Mamoona Anis, which I’ve borrowed from PCBO’s YouTube channel. #pakistancanada #community #businesscommunity
