Who doesn't love Hope for Wildlife? Owlkids featured a wonderful interview with founder Hope Swinimer, along with a kid review of She is Hope for Wildlife by Wanda Baxter, with art by Leah Boudreau in their recent newsletter. The kid reviewer said of the book, "I learned to never give up on your dream and I also learned how important wildlife is. I highly recommend this book. I hope other people read it because it was really good!"

Nimbus Publishing is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved author and friend, Dr. Ron Stewart, who died October 21, 2024.

Ron, with co-author Jim Meek, had recently completed his memoir, Treat Them Where They Lie. We’re very grateful he lived to hold the published book in his hands—although in his inimitably humble but humorous way he complained he had to keep it face down because he couldn’t bear to look at himself on the cover!

We offer our condolences to his family and many, many close friends. A celebration of life will be held in Halifax on Wednesday November 20, 2024, 6–9 p.m. in the McInnes Room, Dalhousie Student Union Building (6136 University Avenue).

A great BIG congratulations to our authors Julie Lawson and Whitney Moran, and illustrator Josée Bisaillon for their nominations at this year’s The Canadian Children's Book Centre Book Awards!

Julie Lawson’s ‘Out of the Dark’, a middle grade novel set in the aftermath of the Halifax Explosion and the onset of the Great Influenza Pandemic, has been nominated for the Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People.

‘I Want to Build a Seahouse’ from author Whitney Moran and Josée Bisaillon - illustration is a finalist for the David Booth Children’s and Youth Poetry Award.
