The Latin series are back this Sunday, April 13 at Alderney Landing. We're thrilled to have Fusion with us sharing their great Parisien jazz vibes. After this amazing performance we will follow a LATIN music jam so bring your drums, shakers, guitar and let's jam along some amazing Latin tunes in Español, Português, Italiano, Français or any other Latin languages you would like to showcase. Stay tuned for more details. This is a free event for all 'la familia". Bring your friend, loved ones, bring your kids.

Come join us tomorrow for some amazing pan-Celtic tunes with Colin Jeffrey and Marcel Amores at Alderney Landing Cultural Center! Find us at the Artisan market at 12:30!!

Colin Jeffrey is an accomplished fiddler player from the gentle island of PEI. He is well versed with the traditional Scottish, Irish and Canadian traditional celtic music and has also made his strings fly through the beautiful Asturian and Galician Spanish tunes.

Marcel Nazabal Amores will be wearing his Celtic hat performing Northern Spain (Galicia & Asturias) music.

Last hour will be open to friends wanting to share some songs and tunes with us.

Our first edition of the Halifax Latin Jams was a great success! What a great crew of talented musicians joined to make the rest of the afternoon after an amazing performance of our one and only Murleta Williams!!

Let me shoot out a big thanks to Jaime Hernán Espinoza Muñoz and his wonderful wife Angelica!! -her name certainly represents her voice!
My Nigerian brother Ifo Ikede bringing the deeps of the beats and señorita Diana Cardoso and her hand percussion!!

We had our multi-talented Sylvie Marie surprising us with some Spanish tunes and having the crowd singing!

And no least, we could hear you very well Wilma Needham, your magic Brazilian percussions on the back!! Next time we will get you on stage!!

Thank you everyone and our regular followers for coming and enjoying this wonderful afternoon! The Latin Series family is growing!

Big thanks again to Alderney Landing as always for providing this community inclusive and friendly venue!!

Well Well!! That was a wrap!! First, let me tell you, Murleta Williams!!! what a powerhouse!! What a great honor to have you truly entertaining the crowd and bringing the church with you with your soulful gospel!! Moreover, your ability to storytelling while educating the audience at the same time!! Thank you for your teachings and you fantastic performance!!! Amen!! Thank you Alderney Landing for this humble and cozy space twice a month. I will continue in a different post.

We're very pleased to have a very special act this Sunday as part of the Latin series: Murleta Williams is a multitalented Nova Scotian that will share her wealth of power in music and voice. She will be performing this Sunday, February 18th at Alderney Landing from 12:30- 1:30 p.m; follow by the first edition of The Halifax Latin Jams. Come join us!!

Murleta Williams, born in New Glasgow, is an Actor-Singer-Musician-Choral Director-Vocal Coach-Music Teacher-Composer-Writer-Arranger-Producer-Director-Collaborator-Lecturer and administrator.

She is the mother of two sons, Trevor (Deceased) and Tracey. She is currently Supply Minister of Music at Mahone Bay United Baptist Church. Murleta has performed with Neptune Theatre, Mulgrave Road, Eastern Front and 2B Theatre companies as an actor and musical director. Always active in community, Murleta has been Executive Director of Leisure Time Activities Association, a member of the Halifax-based Concerned Citizens Against Drugs, the Halifax Peninsula Community Health Board, canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society, a Board Member of the Canadian Black Theatre Society, a Volunteer Coordinator with the Atlantic Jazz Society, a resource person for the hearing handicapped, and a Volunteer Reader for the blind.
Murleta has designed and implemented fund raising campaigns for non-profit and not for profit organizations. She has worked in the areas of Community Development and Community Economic Development throughout the country. Murleta has trained music ministry teams throughout Nova Scotia and the Southern United States.
A “trouble shooter”, Murleta coaches musicians and actors, and works with choirs in Canada and the United States. She is able to cut through performance stumbling blocks – breathing, choral technique and pitch. Murleta has lectured extensively at spiritual and educational institutions on The Negro Spiritual as a Communications Medium in Pre-emancipation North America and cultural sensitivity issues. She has also lectured on health issues at national and international symposia. Murleta has written, directed and produced numerous cross-cultural exchanges; as well as musical and theatrical productions. Murleta received her early musical education in Nova Scotia and began her teaching career while still a student. She is recognized internationally as an extraordinary gospel soloist, choir director, arranger and accompanist.

This Sunday at Alderney Landing:
The Latin Series present: Singing our Romance languages.

The Romance languages originally from Europe bring a vast diversity of cultures and music. Their most spoken ones are Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Romanian; however, other minority languages enjoy a strong identity and deep rooted cultures such as Galician, Catalan, Asturian, Leones, Aragones, Occitan and others.

This edition of the Latin Series will showcase live music and songs in many of these rich languages. Join us for a wonderful afternoon this Sunday at Alderney Landing market stage with Marcel Amores and friends, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. As usual, we will have guest musicians, performers, and dance.
