Well, who are the fellow cruisers who can relate?

Can’t say this conversation hasn’t happened here. Hahaha.

Glad in the end the right side of this photo is what prevailed!

Aviation Did You Know…

Spraying water on airplanes as they land? Why?

A water cannon salute in aviation is a ceremonial tradition where airport fire trucks spray graceful arcs of water over an aircraft as it taxis, typically forming a “water arch” that the plane passes through. It’s a powerful gesture used to mark significant moments in aviation with dignity and celebration.

When is a water cannon salute used?

1. First or last flight of an airline or aircraft type. Can also be for the debut of a new route or the retirement of a classic aircraft.
2. Pilot retirement. Honoring a pilot’s final flight after years of service.
3. Airport or airline milestone. Celebrating major events like new partnerships, anniversaries, or passenger records.
4. Tribute and respect. Honoring fallen aircrew or personnel who passed away in the line of duty, as well as welcoming or bidding farewell to dignitaries, military flights, or other notable individuals.
5. New airline service to an airport. Commemorating the launch of a new carrier or route at an airport.

A water cannon salute is aviation’s ceremonial handshake—both solemn and celebratory, depending on the occasion.

Have you ever been on a plane which experienced a water salute? Or have you witnessed a water salute in person? Tell us about it.

Happy first day of Spring! March 20, 2025.

Children were quick in eating their supper and now returning/renewing their library books.

There’s usually only one entire shelf of French books for children/youth. I wish there would be more French books in the future!

It’s the children’s first time again at Keshen Goodman Public Library after it was renovated.

Definitely so much brighter looking.

Any other families from the French community feel there should be more Fencb books?

February is always double celebration for our family. Lil Bro’s birthday (20th) and our wedding anniversary (21st). We can make it 3 celebrations as 21st is my landing anniversary in Canada. Been here for 17 years now!

⚠️Travel tip: Important Landing Safety Reminders ⚠️

Another plane incident this February 17, 2025 now with Delta 4819. Just a quick reminder for everyone’s safety especially during landing. This is what we call a survivable crash.

Landing 🛬 important safety reminders…

💺: Seatbelt. Secure your seatbelt. Not loose, not overly tight to cut your circulation. Keep it secure. Just right tightness to keep you from being a projectile in cases like this. As per best practice, if you can budget a seat for your infant less than 40lbs, go for it. Bring a car seat for them to use on the plane.

👟: Shoes. Put on your shoes. My young children take their shoes off while in cruising altitude so they can seat comfortably cross legged on their seats. Once the Captain announces 20 mins to landing. I ensure both my children have their shoes on.

💼: Bags. Secure bags and other items. Under the seat. In the seat pocket. No loose items to add to the projectile. Again, once Captain announces 20 mins to landing, we start packing up the children’s stuff, water bottle included and have their backpacks tucked under the seat.

🧣: Clothing. Dress appropriately. Dress accordingly to the weather where you are landing. Not where you came from. Imagine being out in -26C winter weather, in shock, in distress and in flip flops or tank tops?

🪑: Sit properly. Especially in the crucial seconds of landing. Sit appropriately. Straight Feet flat on the floor. Bum all the way back on the seat. Ready to take the brace position if needed.

Taking time to give kudos to the Pilot and the Flight attendants. Every one of the 80 total passengers are accounted for.

So they say, a landing you can walk away from alive is a good landing.

THROWBACK PHOTO 6 years ago today. February 17, 2019.

The morning before I ended up with an ER visit and a few days before I was rushed to the hospital via ambulance in anticipation of Lil Bro’s birth

One of my most favorite photos my late mother in law took of our family.

We had 4 professional photographers and her hobbyist of a photographer self got the nicest shots.

Thanks to Truro Flying Club for making this dram gender reveal happen. Check them out if interested to learn how to fly. 🙂

Anyone else did gender reveal for their child?
